Respected Principal, teachers, and my dear fellow students, Today, I stand before you to speak about a topic that has been a subject of debate and concern in recent times – "Why should we ban violent digital games?" Some people might argue that digital games are just a form of entertainment. I strongly believe that there are compelling and valid reasons to reconsider the impact of violent digital games on our society. Digital games have become an integral part of our lives. Every computer and mobile device has some form of games installed in it. Some of them entertain us, challenge us, and sometimes even help us to learn. But there are other games which glorify violence and aggression. These games depict and engage players in brutal actions and killing without real-life consequences. Continuously playing violent digital games erases the line between fantasy and reality and potentially desensitizing the minds of the players to violence, blood, pain, injury, suffering, damage and killing. Children and teenagers are becoming victims due to the influence of these games. Our young minds are still developing, and playing those violent games or just watching when others playing can shape our personality, behaviour and attitude in a defective format. Research studies have proved that players of violent digital games tend to display increased aggression and decreased empathy. This will surely lead to a less compassionate and understanding society for India in the long run. Moreover, this could also result in young students with decreased physical activity, reduced social interactions, and even neglect of academic responsibilities. Here, I want to ask all of you a simple question. What do we really want? Should our children become responsible and empathetic citizens or careless and violent criminals in future? I conclude here with a humble request. Please think about the long-term effects these violent digital games can have on our society's values and mental health. It is our responsibility to develop healthy young minds and foster positive interactions. Let us uninstall all violent digital games from all of our devices and pass our comments to the game developers to create games that challenges our intellect and creativity rather than promoting our capacity for violence. Thank you.
