UNIT 5. The Natural World Name: Erick Cabrera Class: B1 G5 Write about two different topics you discussed in class in this unit. Include new words, expressions or concepts your teacher highlighted or recommended during the unit. Topic 1: Environmental Issues In this unit we looked at environmental issues, how pollution affects the environment and the effects it brings. A clear example of what we saw was the pollution of the rivers that people throw away garbage without thinking about the ecosystem and how it could affect it, since all that waste can affect animals such as fish that live in it. Topic 2: If Nature can do it, we can copy it. In this topic we talk about how a professor was inspired by nature to create an object, Professor Leslie Cook studied Velcro, which is a material that we use every day in bags, shoes and other things. Biomimicry is a practice that learns and mimics nature's strategies to solve human design problems and find hope. Mark with an X inside the corresponding box based on your teacher’s participation & attendance sheet.
