SWINE REPOPULATION AND EXPANSION | Department of Agriculture RFO XI
The Department of Agriculture (DA-XI), through its Livestock Program, conducted a Livestock
Suppliers Forum to intensify its information dissemination on project coordination for the
implementation of the Integrated National Swine Production Initiatives for Recovery and
Expansion (INSPIRE) Program.
Based on the Philippine Statistic Authority (PSA) data, Davao Region produced 136,297.96 MT
in 2021, while 138,640.43 MT produced in 2022. That is an increase of 1.72%.
INSPIRE Program implemented the calibrated repopulation and enhancement of the local swine
industry to recover the sector’s capacity to locally produce a sufficient supply of hogs and pork.
In general, the project aims to establish a Community-based Swine Farm in Davao Region.
Each qualified and accredited Farmers Cooperative and Association (FCA) will receive P5.5million. Of this amount, 4,475,000 will be used to build a Biosecurity Facility inclusive of the
perimeter fence, climate-controlled animal house, waste management, basic farm equipment,
office, and shower area. P500,000 will be used for feeds and biologics support, while the
remaining P525,000 will be used to purchase piglets.
In the latest update, there are 44 FCAs that received the INSPIRE Project with a total amount of
P242,000,000 worth of assistance.
In order for an FCA to be qualified, it should be accredited by the DA as a Civil Society
Organization and zoning certificate from the LGU, among others.
