Further, governed by existing national laws, the EWD, through the Health and Wellness Center, is mandated to spearhead the establishment of day care/child-minding center and lactation station. The day to day operations of these establishments shall be managed by the Health and Wellness Center of the EWD. Per DM-OUHROD-2022-0060, the function of the former DepEd Employees Association Coordinating Office (DEACO) shall be transferred to EWD as one of its units to serve as the focal point for the DepEd CO in coordinating and monitoring various employee groups in the Department DepEd Order No. 032 s., 2017 titled Gender-Responsive Basic Education Policy directs the constitution of the Gender and Development Focal Point System across governance levels. This is to ensure the integration of gender equality, gender equity, gender sensitivity, non-discrimination, and human rights in the provision and governance of basic education. For the Central Office, the BHROD was identified as the Secretariat for the GFPS where the EWD acts as the coordinating office. This is on top of the representation of EWD as a member of the GFPS.
