Students’ Representative Council Handbook of Rules And Regulations 2023-2024. The Students’ Representative Council of International Hope School Bangladesh SRC, formed in the 2018-2019 academic year, was created to initiate a platform for students to voice their concerns, while developing the leadership qualities that are required to be a global citizen of the world. This handbook contains the bylaws of the constitution of the council. It takes an attempt in explaining the election process and the roles of each stakeholder of the council. Please note that these clauses are subject to change by the SRC Coordinator, if need arises. Structure: 1. Our entire student-body is grouped into four houses: Dire wolves, Saurus, Hawks, and Phoenix 2. All students previously sorted into houses will hold their designations. Incoming students will be sorted annually in a random manner. 3. The presidents and SRC Coordinator will be the only members of the student body who are not sorted into any house, despite which house they belonged to before the election. 4. Presidents can only be elected from Grade 11. 5. Each House will contain of 2 prefects. Each spot can be filled out by one male and female student, as per the majority votes in election. 6. Each Prefect will be the head student body representative for their specific house. 7. Prefects for each House can only be elected from a member of the specific house. 8. Prefects can be elected from grades 9-12. 9. For grades 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10, a class captains & a vice captain for each section of the grades are to be elected. 10. The structure is summarized below: Election Process: 1. The Presidents are to be elected by the majority of votes from all Teaching & Non-teaching staff and Students of IHSB senior section, irrespective of which House they belong to. 2. Prefects of a House are to be elected by the majority of votes from all teachers, coordinators, and students of that specific house only. • Prefect (Male) and Prefect (Female) will be elected based on the highest number of votes for a candidate for the position. 3. Voting procedure is to be conducted house-wise. 4. Ballots for each house will include the option to vote for presidential candidates, and candidates for Prefects for that specific house only. 5. Captains for a grade will be elected by the students of each grade alone. Candidate Selection: 1. Any student can apply as a candidate for a position in the student council, as per the grade they are studying in. • Grade 11 -Presidents • Grade 9,10,11,12 – Prefects. 2. Candidates that are approved will appear on ballot papers. 3. Any Candidate can be removed between the time of approval and election, if they misconduct any rules and regulations of campaigning, or any other violation of school rules as per the discretion of the school authority. *Campaign rules and regulations will be provided to the nominated candidates at the beginning of the campaign period. Roles of SRC Members • • • • • • • • • • President Responsible for catering to the needs of the entire IHSB Boys Senior Section. Must be present in all SRC meetings, unless otherwise instructed. Responsible for overseeing all male/female members of the SRC, and if they are carrying out their functions as instructed. Must be present in major school events and be designated as the student head organizer. Must constantly convey with the school authority, and the student-body to reduce the gap of communication. Conjecture innovative ideas for every event that the school and the student body want to organize. Be vigilant and report and any misconduct of school rules on campus. Be wary about their self-demeanor, and represent themselves as an ideal character, students can look up to. Will be responsible for the assembly and some other responsibilities given by the SRC Coordinator. Report to the SRC coordinator & DH-SA Prefects • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • Prefect for each house is responsible for controlling all activities of his/her specific house. Bring forth issues in his/her house to Council meetings and actively play a role in resolving the problems. Aid the Presidents in communication between the student-body and the school authority. Oversee the house functions, class-captains, and all members of the House as a whole. Collect class-specific problems from the class-captains. Be vigilant and report and any misconduct of school rules on campus. Be wary about their self-demeanor, and represent themselves as an ideal character, students can look up to. Will be responsible for the assembly (House wise) and some other responsibilities like duties given by the SRC Coordinator/school admin. Consult with the Head Teachers assigned for each house & Report to the President/SRC Coordinator. Class Captains Attend and list issues for every class. Regularly communicate with their Homeroom teacher to convey any class-specific problems that should be attended to. Be vigilant and report and any misconduct of school rules on campus. Be wary about their self-demeanor, and represent themselves as an ideal character, can students can look up to. He/she can participate in Will be responsible for the assembly and some other responsibilities like duties given by SRC coordinator/DH-SA. Report to the class teacher at the first point & then DH-SA.
