Group activity 14: Multinational location
You are government representatives of the area. Your brief is to consider the advantages and
disadvantages of locating in the area from the point of view of the government.
Task 1
• Using your research from group activity 13 and student briefing sheet for group activity 14,
complete the spider diagrams below.
• Give a presentation to the other two groups on the arguments for and against locating in the
area.

• Once the arguments for and against locating in the area have been presented, the whole class
should come together to consider what the government’s final decision should be on whether or
not to allow the factory to be built.
• Summarise and justify the final decision in a written report.
