Thomas Dexter 509-290-3321 t.dextrous@gmail.com College Station, TX Dear Hiring Manager, I am writing to express my strong interest in the Electronics Firmware Development Engineer position at Lynntech. My name is Thomas Dexter, and I recently graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor's of Science in Electrical Engineering. I am eager to bring my skills and experiences to Lynntech and contribute to your team. I have gained valuable practical experience through multiple internships, focusing on FPGA development, microcontroller programming, and firmware development. Currently, I am working as a Hardware Engineer Intern at Optiver, where I am involved in developing custom FPGA solutions for high-frequency trading systems. I was responsible for implementing a PCB sensor monitoring system in VHDL and writing companion firmware in C. Currently, I am in the process of designing a market data information parser in VHDL to extract application layer protocols from raw Ethernet frames. These projects have strengthened my technical abilities and problem-solving skills. Prior to Optiver, I worked as an Engineering Intern at Troverlo, where I took on the challenge of developing a proofof-concept embedded system to scan and report open WiFi access points. My role involved programming the ESP32 MCU in C to scan for open WiFi access points and transmit data to a cloud endpoint through various network connections, including WiFi, Ethernet, and LTE-M. This project was a fantastic opportunity for me to take ownership of a project and improve my embedded systems troubleshooting skills. Additionally, I had the privilege of working as an RTL Intern at Astranis, a startup in the geostationary internet satellite industry. My responsibilities included developing custom RTL for software-defined radios, requiring proficiency in SystemVerilog and C/C++ programming. The role also involved close collaboration with other teams, especially those in communications and digital signal processing, further enhancing my ability to work effectively in cross-functional environments. In the fall of 2023, I will be returning to Texas A&M University to pursue a Master's of Science in Electrical Engineering. As such, I am seeking a part-time position (20-25 hours per week) that aligns with my academic commitments and allows me to continue my professional growth while contributing to Lynntech's success. I firmly believe that my combination of educational background and industry experience makes me uniquely qualified for this role. I am enthusiastic about the prospect of joining Lynntech and getting the opportunity to work with an interdisciplinary group of talented engineers. The possibility of contributing to Lynntech's projects excites me, and I am eager to hear about your availabilities for part-time work. Thank you for considering my application. I have attached my resume for your review. I look forward to the chance to discuss how my skills and experiences align with Lynntech's requirements. Sincerely, Thomas Dexter
