Soil erosion
erosion?
Soil erosion is a gradual process
that occurs when the impact of
water or wind detaches and
removes soil particles, causing
the soil to deteriorate
Causes for soil erosion
What Causes Erosion? Soil erosion mostly happens when the
land is exposed to strong winds, copious rain, and flowing
water. Some human endeavors, such as farming and land
clearance, increase soil erosion susceptibility.
types of soil erosion
Rain Drop or Splash Erosion.
Sheet Erosion.
Rill Erosion.
Gully Erosion.
Stream Bank Erosion.
describe the effectsof
soil erosion
Soil erosion depletes the most productive area of the soil profile for
agricultural purposes, the top soil. Lower yields and greater production
costs occur from the removal of this top soil. When top soil is lost,
erosion can create rills and gullies that make paddock cultivation
impractical.
How can we prevent soil
erosion
1. Planting Vegetation.
This method involves
planting crops with
deep roots that can
hold the soil in place.

Reforestation
