Rosie is a symbol of immorality; her drinking is out of control. She is physically and mentally abused by the gang. She being a victim of rape shows the degradation of society (in decline), reminder of the horrific and terrible things that the gang is capable of. Tsotsi doesn’t have a positive self-image, he only knows life as a criminal. Stones inflict harm, which is effective because he only inflicts harm – he does not show any emotion. He is an extension of the street. 1.4 What does Boston say to Tsotsi that send him over the edge?
