MANIFESTO Name: Ankit Pandey Roll No.: 194033049 Post: Mess Councillor As a candidate for the position of Mess Councillor, I, Ankit Pandey (194033049), am dedicated to improving the current services and promoting growth in the hostel mess. If elected, I pledge to fulfil my responsibilities with the utmost sincerity and dedication. I welcome feedback from all residents and encourage them to reach out to me with their suggestions and concerns. Initiatives • Mess food access can be given by just typing the roll number, and residents can take their meals at any mess counter, regardless of their hostel. • Regular referendum will be conducted to gather feedback on the existing menu and suggestions for new items to be added at regular intervals. • Seasonal fruits and vegetables will be included in the menu to offer nutritious, less oily, and less spicy meals. • Gala dinner and tea party will be organized based on resident surveys to introduce new items and improve the overall dining experience. • Taking the initiative on mess beautification after consulting with other council members. • Inclusion of guest/extra item coupons in the Instiapp to make the process streamlined and digital. • Special veg items will also be included in lunch/dinner along with non-veg specials. General Duties as Mess Councillor • Ensure the cleanliness of the mess, including the floor, fans, utensils, serving counters and personal hygiene of mess workers on a regular basis. • Enhance the food quality based on ongoing feedback and include enough fruits, veggies, and sprouts in the meals. • Regularly check the complaint register to address any issues promptly and troubleshooting them within a month. • Ensure the proper maintenance and utilization of existing resources, such as the toaster machine, hot water dispenser, exhaust, cold-room, and digital mess card system. • Keep a check on the quality of food and ensure that all packaged foods are bought from established brands as per mess tender. • Set the menu every two weeks to provide a well-balanced diet and strictly enforce standard rules for food preparation. • Make hand-wash stands/bottles available and coordinate with mess workers and council members to ensure proper functioning of the mess. • Estimate the amount of food being wasted and appropriately change the menu if a particular item is being excessively wasted. • Organize meetings with the warden and mess contractor to resolve complaints about food and other problems. • Provide a monthly mess bill to every student and ensure that the contractor maintains proper utensils counts. • Address suggestions and complaints regarding the mess and canteen promptly and inform everyone about the decision taken by the council through the complaint register. • Provide refreshments during practice hours of Cultural/Sport events like PAF, Gyrations, Goonj, sports GC and MDGC. Follow-up • Make provision for appropriate food, after consultation with other council members, to residents who are sick, such as khichdi, dalia, soup, etc. • We will be installing the fans, tables and chairs in the mess section next to H-13 mess entrance. Festivals • Offer unique sweets and food products for national holidays like Republic Day, Independence Day and on regional festivals. • Offer a special meal and high-quality prasad products during fasting festivals. Canteen • Ensure that the canteen serves fresh, best-quality, and hygienic food. • Introduce new, affordable, and healthy items in the canteen after conducting a referendum such as Puri-bhaji, Fish, Live dosa, Momos, etc. • Ensure the cleanliness of the canteen.
