The Challenge
Temenos is the world’s leader in banking software,
partnering with banks and other financial institutions
to transform their businesses.
This mission-critical packaged application, along with database level complexity and vast data
volumes, create a challenge for its users to develop, test, release and monitor effectively.
As banking and financial services industry is undergoing digital transformation, it’s now the time to
unlock Temenos data, so teams can update processes to meet new regulatory rules, quickly track
down issues in production, continuously test and monitor their core banking system and its
interfaces.
To roll out new products, business processes, and modules, professionals need data for
development and testing environments but are operationally constrained by the slow, inefficient
process of extracting, copying, and moving data.
Traditional approaches of copying full cuts of production data to dozens of development, test, and
risk modelling environments can take days or weeks to deliver or refresh environments, making
data the critical bottleneck to completing Temenos core banking projects on time and on budget.
In addition, industry measures, like MiFID II, Basel III, and GDPR are putting further pressure on
testing and development teams that work with Temenos core banking—creating larger data
volumes, and requiring more development and test environments available.

Data Virtualisation
Test Data Virtualization is the technology that can help organizations address the growing
challenges in accessing, integrating, and provisioning the data that is needed from various data
sources for stress tests and for regulatory reporting. It enables teams to cut non-production data
footprints by up to 80-90% by storing virtual copies of data.
Virtual data can be accessed at any time for testing, can be bookmarked and retrieved to meet
audit requests, and rewound to reconcile errors, and are continuously synced with source data.
Virtual data environments, can also be shared with other users to drive collaboration between
developers and testers and increase efficiency.
For example, a virtual data environment that enables full access to 10TB can use less than 10GB of
storage. This means that data provisioning can be faster and cheaper, and results in Temenos
clients being able to significantly improve their stress testing coverage, optimize business risks,
and extract the maximum efficiency out of their capital.

Self-service access to data
Data delivery in legacy test data management systems can take up to weeks or months, keeping
Development and QA teams waiting idle, when they could be completing testing cycles in minutes
or hours.
Developers and testers can now be more self-sufficient to provision their own test data sets to
speed up testing and release software faster removing the dependencies on the DBAs and
application experts. Both extracted, generated and imported data are stored and managed in
Validata’s centralized repository with full access and version control

Data Masking
With all the regulations and mandates such as GDPR in effect, Data Masking is essential in
protecting sensitive information. Temenos data will need to be masked to ensure strong data
security compliance before distribution to every non-production environment.

teams to build and update nonproduction systems faster for greater agility, and replicate and
