Chapter 2: Auction markets Stock exchanges in Canada:1) Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX): It has senior equities and some debt instrument Companies listed on it. It is the main stock exchange in Canada. 2) TSX Venture: This is for the junior equity companies, which after attaining more shareholders can shift to TSX. 3) TSX Alpha: Same as TSX Venture. 4) Montreal Exchange (ME): It mainly has Financial futures & Options listed on it. 5) Natural Gas exchange 6) Canadian Securities exchange 7) ICE Futures (Winnipeg Commodity exchange ): It is mainly for agricultural futures & options. 8) Aequitas NEO exchange 9) Nodal Exchange: It’s for Energy Therefore we can say that F&Os are mainly listed on ME And ICE. Auction markets are for the public companies where there’s a system to show the prices of the listed companies to the public On the other hand, Dealer markets are for the private/unlisted companies Chapter 3 There are 13 securities regulators in Canada (Each province has a different regulator unlike USA), all of these work together under “Canadian Securities Administrator” (CSA) to protect investors and support fair and efficient market. The Self Regulatory Organisations (SROs) includes IIROC, MFDA and all other stock exchanges (TSX, ME, TSX Venture, ICE). However, the 2 main SROs are iiroc AND mfda. Investor Protection funds: In order to protect the investors’ funds when the companies go bankrupt.
