We should spread awareness to stop global warming and reserve the planet for the future generations Global Warming Over the past 50 years, the average global temperature has increased at the fastest rate in recorded history. Global warming is a serious issue that is destroying our planet and man-kind. It has various causes that destroy Earth and lead to numerous dangerous and lethal effects. There are various causes for global warming. The major cause of global warming is the greenhouse effect which occurs due to the spreading of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. These greenhouse gases trap the heat radiated back from earth causing the earth to warm up. Moreover, a main cause of global warming is the unstoppable burning of fossil fuels such as oil and petroleum to produce electrical energy and energy for transportation. This process releases a huge quantity of air pollutants and greenhouse gases. Also, burning garbage and trees sends an enormous amount of greenhouse gases which maintains unbalance in the environment atmosphere. All these causes may have dangerous consequences and effects that are threatening peoples’ lives. One of these effects in the depletion in the ozone layer leading to deadly effects like skin cancer. In addition, global warming harms nature through natural disasters it results. For example, heat waves, strong storms, unexpected cyclones and floods… Furthermore, this increase in the earth’s temperature results in melting of glaciers and polar ice caps. Consequently, the sea level rises and low islands will be covered with water. In short, these deadly effects can be prevented by taking the following initiatives. In the first place, we should plant more trees and stop deforestation. To illustrate, the government should ban cutting trees to save the environment and both government and nongovernmental organizations should launch afforestation campaigns. Even more important, people should reduce electrical consumption to decrease burning fossil fuels. Specifically, electrical devices should be turned off when not in use Also , there should be alternative sources of energy which are not harmful for the environment such as solar and wind energy. At last, scrubbers should be used for factories and the traffic in city centers should be reduced to decrease the concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere. As a conclusion, global warming is a natural disaster that is destroying our planet and man-kind. As such, people must beware and try their best to overcome and stop global warming to save our planet.
