In the author’s perspective, the harm that has been done to the community can be seen by just walking down the street. They have positioned to the audience to make them see the devastation that has happened all across the Middle East, this includes, the death, the violence and children being subjected to all of this. This makes the audience understand the severity of what is occurring and how much war has an effect on a country. In the final stanza it symbolises of natural wealth and bounty that the Middle East could provide if it were freed from the hands of war. Therefore, showing the world to have hope for the countries. CONTEXT The author of this text wrote this poem to show the world what is really happening across the Middle East every day. This text was written in 1998, and in 1998 there was a bombing done by the US and the United Kingdom in Iraq to strike military and security targets. This poem was done in response to the after effect of this devastation. Whole text
