MODULE 02 - ASSIGNMENT
A. HOW THE WORLD WAS MADE
Requirements:
1. What is the living condition of the early Filipino people as reflected in the story? Discuss.
The story “How the world has made” is one of the best examples of ancient Filipino account of
creation. It was vividly shown how the world and people exist . As to living condition, early Filipino
people were highly knowledgeable in primitive way of acquiring goods particularly by means of
hunting, and farming. Additionally, Filipinos were in early stage of development with people living in
a simple way without machines or a writing system.
2. What is the religious belief and tradition as reflected in the story? Discuss.
Filipino people as reflected in the story were easily persuaded by different things. In the story
“How the world has made” Pandaguan is a believer of something that he perceived everything that is
huge, and has a super human strength are Gods/Goddesses. It is truly indeed in the Philippine history
accounts that early Filipino people were influenced and worshipping different God’s/Goddesses that
they perceived it has a great impact to their daily lives.
B. THE CREATION BY IGOROTS
Requirement:
1. Discuss the cultural strains that are present in the story.
There are lot of cultural strains that are present in the story. First, some culture are capable of doing
things that was given to them on the other hand some are not capable. But that does not mean they are
incapable of doing all things. There are areas that they were experts.
C. HOW THE MOON STARS CAME TO BE
Requirement:
1. Describe the practice of the early Filipinos as reflected in the story.
Based on the story, it was depicted that the common way of pounding rice. Since in the
geographical area of this story are mostly surrounded by lands, it shows the simple and prosperous way
of living of the people of Bukidnon by pounding the rice.
In earlier accounts as to pounding rice based on the story requires more strength and endurance.
There is a common way of pounding rice, that is to place a bundle of grain that they harvested on a dried
place and pound it with pestle to loosen the heads. In the story, they were pouring it into a mortar and
pounded it again using pestle until the grain is separated.
All to say, the practice of the early Filipino as reflected in the story are more complex, and it
requires a lot process in pounding a rice.
