Assignment 4 Assigning Subject Headings
Directions: Assign SEARS subject headings for the tiles provided based on
the summary. Don’t overthink it – take the summary straight forward! You
should assign at least 3 headings for each and use subdivisions as
appropriate. Be sure to include a justification statement citing specific
rationale from Sears or other tools from the course. In other words, look up
the heading in Sears and explain why it would be used for the book.
Titles and Summaries
Title: My pony grows up
Summary: Learn about how to care for ponies including their health,
grooming, diet, training and overall needs. Describes the growth stages of a
pony beginning as a foal and how to saddle and ride a horse. There are
pictures illustrating the book.
Title: Two peas in a pod
Summary: This is the heartwarming story of a high school love challenged
by society, school rules and the haunting memory of abuse. Friendship
prevails and grows as the hardships make the bond between Stacy and Lee

Summary: A fascinating book about sustaining the world’s food sources and
how gardening in a bag can make any space a producing garden. The book
provides diagrams and pictures of the bags showing many different types of
locations and a wide variety of vegetables and ornamentals flourishing.
Title: Cross Country Travel in the United States
Summary: Traveling across country can be an adventure or a nightmare!
This travel guide provides insightful information about cost saving, how to’s,
suggested routes and must-see stops. The illustrations are color
photographs.
Title: Mystery of the place next door
Summary: Jed and Courtney – two best friends since 3rd grade – find
themselves in the old mansion at the end of the street on a spooky, stormy
night. Intrigued by the noises they hear each night, they are brave enough
