Welcome to the MAPEH 6 (Music) Alternative Delivery Mode (ADM) Module
on An Enhanced Understanding of Melody!
This module was collaboratively designed, developed and reviewed by
educators both from public and private institutions to assist you, the teacher
or facilitator in helping the learners meet the standards set by the K to 12
Curriculum while overcoming their personal, social, and economic
constraints in schooling.
This learning resource hopes to engage the learners into guided and

also aims to help learners acquire the needed 21st century skills while taking
into consideration their needs and circumstances.

Melody is a linear sequence of notes the listeners hear as a single entity. The
melody of a song is a foreground to the backing elements and is a combination of pitch
and rhythm.
In this module, you will learn melody and the different key signatures in the
major scale. So I hope you will enjoy the different activities in this module.

Why do you like the song?
The reason why you have a favorite song is not just because of the lyrics/words
of a song but, you like the tune. The tune of the song is made up of a linear sequence
of notes the listeners hear as a single entity which is called melody. Notes are
arranged in intervals in order to produce a melody pleasing to the ear. Melodic interval
is the distance between two pitches that are played one after the other or in a
linear/horizontal manner.

Take note of the following:
1. The Key of C major scale has no sharp (#) or flat (b) sign and the lower do is
located two steps below the first line in the musical scale.
2. The Key of F major scale has no sharp (#) sign but it has one flat (b) sign located
in the 3rd line of the scale and its lower do is found in the first space of the
musical scale.
3. The Key of G major scale has no flat (b) sign but it has one sharp (#) sign
located in the 5th line of the scale and its lower do is found in the second line
of the musical scale.
