Dealing with Fundamentals
WHAT IS AXIE INFINITY?
AXIE Infinity is a blockchain based trading and
battling game that allows players to collect, breed,
raise, battle and trade token-based creatures known
as “AXIES.”
WHAT IS AN AXIE?
AXIES are your pets in-game. These creatures are
used to form teams, breed other AXIES, and earn
SLPs.
KNOW YOUR AXIES
STATS
CLASSES
These refer to the basic
information about
AXIES.
Also called as type or
family of AXIES. Each
corresponds to certain
advantages and unique
stats.
STATS
HEALTH
The amount of damage your AXIE can take before
getting knocked out
SPEED
Speed determines turn order. Faster AXIES attack first. If two AXIES have the same
speed, this is how attack order is determined: High speed > Low HP > High
Skill > High Morale > Low Fighter ID
SKILL
Skill adds damage when an AXIE plays multiple cards at once (combo). The extra
damage is calculated using this formula: (card attack * skill )/ 500
MORALE
Morale increases critical strike chance. It also makes entering last stand more likely and adds
more last stand “ticks”.
CLASSES
Each class is weak and strong against other classes. When calculating damage, the
card class of the attacking AXIE is compared to the AXIE class of the defender.
Looking at the diagram, a Bird card used to attack a Beast AXIE will deal 15%
additional damage, while the same Bird card will deal 15% less damage against a
Plant AXIE.
CLASSES
❖
In addition, when an AXIE of a certain class uses a card from its own class it gets
a 10% attack/shield bonus.
❖
For example, a Plant AXIE playing a plant card will receive 10% extra
attack/shield.
❖
Furthermore, these bonuses stack! A Beast AXIE using a Beast card against a
Plant target will deal 25% (10% + 15%) more damage.
❖
Classes also affect the stats of the AXIE.

Things you need to know before entering ARENA
AXIE PARTS and CARDS
Each AXIE can draw from a pool of 4 potential cards in battle.
Each card comes from a body part— Mouth, Back, Tail,
and Horn.
STARTING TEAMS
TANKS
ATTACKERS
Also called as frontliners,
and the “WALL” of the
team.
Contains the bulk of the
damage output of the
team.
STARTING TEAMS
TANKS
A TANK is defined as:
• Adept at absorbing damage.
• High HP stat (50+).
• Having at least 2 high shield cards (70+). More is
preferable but can also increase the price quickly.
TIPS:
• Almost all plant class cards are good tank cards.
• Reptile and aquatic cards can also be tank cards.
• Self healing cards such as Shiitake and Rosebud can
make a tank more resilient.
STARTING TEAMS
ATTACKERS
In general, “attacker” AXIES:
• Have at least 2 cards with 100+ damage.
• Sacrifice survivability (HP & shield) for damage output.
TIPS:
• Speed can be useful on damage dealing AXIES, allowing
them to incapacitate an AXIE before it can attack.
• The skill stat adds damage on combos.
• Bird & Beast cards are almost always good damage dealing
cards.
• Morale increases chance to critical strike, dealing 100% more
damage on an attack. This makes high morale AXIES
(generally beast and bug AXIES) good fits for the damage
dealer role.
BUFFS and DEBUFFS
BUFFS
DEBUFFS
POSITIVE effects
bestowed to AXIES
NEGATIVE effects
applied on AXIES
They can be applied on your AXIES or on your enemy through playing Ability Cards.
AXIES who are affected by those status effects have an icon floating above their
bodies, indicating which status effect is applied.
At the moment, there are 3 BUFFS and 13 DEBUFFS in the GAME.
BUFFS
BUFFS
ATTACK UP – increases the next attack by 20%
MORALE UP – increases the morale up by 20% for the next
round (stackable)
SPEED UP – increases speed by 20% for the next round
(stackable)
BUFFS
DEBUFFS
speed down
Decreases speed by 20% for the next round. Stackable
stench
Affected AXIE loses target priority for the next round.
stun
Next attack misses / Next incoming attack ignores shields
aroma
Target priority changes to affected Axie for the next round
attack down
Decreases the next Attack by 20%. Stackable
chill
Affected AXIE can't enter last stand.
BUFFS
DEBUFFS
fear
Affected AXIE can’t attack
jinx
Shield takes double the damage for the next incoming attack attack
fragile
lethal
Affected AXIE can't land critical hits for the next round.
Next hit against affected AXIE is critical.
morale down
Decreases Morale by 20% for the next round (stackable)
Until removal, affected AXIE loses 2 HP for every action (stackable)
sleep
Next incoming attack ignores shields.

PRIORITY SKILLS
Prioritize target, target enemy - are cards that targets backline axies which shifts the
tide of the game. These cards are prioritizing backlines which allows them to gain
advantage over you.
Example combo:
Bird AXIE casts ‘darkswoop’ and other damage cards to ensure your damage dealer like
beast or aqua dies, for them to gain advantage.
TIP: if dealing with these kinds of AXIE, always check opponents cards to know what cards
and effects they have, and to calculate what damage they are capable of dishing out.
PRIORITY SKILLS
EXAMPLES
BATTLE MECHANICS
While AXIE battles seem basic at first glance, there’s way more going on under the hood.
After you do your first couple battles you start to wonder how you can do more damage
and keep your tank alive for a few more rounds.
“DAMAGE CALCULATION”
There’s a couple of variables that affect the amount of damage that your AXIES deal each attack:
❑
Rock, Paper, Scissors / class advantages
❑
Combo attacks
❑
Same Class Attacking Axie & Card
❑
Critical Attacks
❑
Shield counting
ROCK-PAPER-SCISSORS (RPS)
CLASS ADVANTAGE
AXIE class advantages are based on the old game of “Rock, Paper, Scissors”.
As said earlier, every class in AXIE Infinity corresponds to a class that gets a 15% damage
bonus against, 15% bonus defense.
The most important thing to note about the “RPS Bonus” is that it is based on the attacking
Skill/Part/Card and the defending AXIE’s body class. The attacking AXIE’s body class does
not play into the RPS bonus, but it will have its affects in latter sections.
Also note that the RPS bonus can work both ways.
COMBO ATTACKS
Combo attacks happen when an AXIE attacks with two or more cards in a round.
Combos will add a little bit of damage based on the skill of the AXIE playing the combo.
The higher the skill, the more bonus damage.
The formula for calculating combo damage is: (attack * skill) / 500
Combo Attack Notes:
•Playing more cards in a combo does NOT increase the combo bonus. The formula is the
same for each card played whether it is a 2 card combo or 4 card combo
CHAINED ATTACKS
Chaining is when two or more AXIES play the same class of card in a round.
The class of the AXIE does not matter for chaining.
For example, an AQUA AXIE plays Beech (plant card) and a BUG AXIE plays Shiitake (plant card).
They would be chained and get a shield bonus of about 5-6%.
On the other hand, there are cards that require chaining to trigger the ability. Therefore, you need to
have to axies with same chain cards for it to trigger.
Example: cutebunny/ terror chomp must be chained to trigger its effect.
So in a round, Axie 1 terrorchomp + axie 2 terrorchomp = triggered effects.
SAME CLASS for BODY
and CARD
Another variable in the damage calculation is whether the attacking AXIE is using a
card that is in the same class as its body.
For example, a beast that has Imp, or Goda.
Any attacks that have the same attacking card class as the body class will get a 10%
bonus.
For example, Imp (110 base damage) on a beast will do 121 damage.
CRITICAL ATTACKS
❖
Critical attacks are a bit random so I won’t cover them in great detail, but you should
be aware of them.
❖
Each AXIE’s chance to get a critical attack is based on its morale.
❖
The higher the morale, the greater the chance to land a critical hit.
❖
If your AXIE is lucky and you generate a critical strike, it will do 200% damage to the
defending AXIE
SHIELD COUNTING
1.
The last piece of the puzzle is whether the defending AXIE has any shield.
2.
If it does not, each attack (plus bonuses) will take away corresponding health to
the defending AXIE.
3.
If the AXIE has any shield, the attacking AXIE will take away shield first until the
shield is gone before taking away health.
4.
Note that there are a few cards that can ignore shield for an attack
5.
(doubletalk and stuns) but that would be covered for our advanced guide.

OPTIMIZING SLP
GAMEPLAY TIPS
OPTIMIZING SLP
o
Daily Quest, Adventure cap, and Arena rewards had been cut down for the
economy of AXIE Infinity.
o
Instead of leveling AXIES, we suggest that BEGINNERS should play arena first to
earn more than usual in this update.
o
Winning arena with energy can give you SLPS and trophies while playing adventure
without energy can also give you SLPS.
o
So in order to maximize your daily gain these tips would help.
o
Also, winning ruins 21 and 36 gives you a one time reward for 200 SLP.
OPTIMIZING SLP
GAMEPLAY TIPS
Playing arena is one of the most competitive and fun part of this game.
So with that being said, here are some tips on how to get advantages over your
opponents
❖
Always check opponent cards to know what possible cards they will drop.
❖
Always count energy gains and steal of opponents for you to preemptively
counter what damage they are capable of dishing out
❖
Skipping turns to get specific energy count and card that you need is also a good
strategy.
❖
Always anticipate what opponents will do.
GAMEPLAY TIPS
❖
Do not waste energy and cards.
❖
Example: throwing one card at a dying opponent, while your opponent has a high
shield count to throw. Your card and energy will just be useless.
❖
Make it a habit to read what combos and chain cards you and you’re opponents
are capable of.
❖
Calculate damage before throwing it out
❖
Make use of every combo card as possible, combo shifts the tide so ensure to
trigger it.
