American and British have some differences in behavior. American society differs from British society in many ways. In the US, individualism is highly valued and encouraged, while in Britain there is a greater emphasis on community and collective responsibility. The US also has a more diverse population than the UK, with people of different races, religions, and backgrounds living side by side. Americans are generally more optimistic about their future prospects than Britons are; this can be seen in their attitudes toward work, education, and politics. Finally, American culture tends to be much more informal than British culture; for example, dress codes tend to be less strict in the US compared to the UK. Some other things I have noticed in more detail: That, Americans, collectively, are much more self-confident socially than Europeans and British. Americans also like to be more enterprising than the British or Europeans. Another significant difference: is Religion, British and Europeans do not talk about their faith like many Americans do. … British and Europeans tend to, for starters, be less religious than Americans and have less of a comfort level discussing religion openly, compared to people from the U.S. Even socializing I have found is incredibly different, and again, the fault line is between Americans vs British/Europeans. Americans, in my experience, much prefer to do their socializing at other people’s homes; another side the British and Europeans tend to do their socializing in more public places, like pubs and cafes. And one thing more that is the British do not show their emotions while the Americans usually do. I can explain the American side, I think. Americans are told to display enthusiasm. If we want to get a job, we must act enthusiastically in the interview. We must show beyond the shadow of a doubt how much we want that job. Same with getting into college—act enthusiastic. Someone said, “Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.” If you want to make something happen, you must show that you are excited and enthused about it. If someone makes a beautiful dinner for you, you must express your enthusiasm. If someone did you a favor, you should be sure to offer an enthusiastic message of gratitude. You should not hold back and allow it to look as though you do not fully appreciate what the person did for you. Last! You are told to smile. “Smile! Your face won’t crack!” Smile and show enthusiasm.
