EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The growth and increase of demand for electronic commerce in the early pandemic
changed the traditional selling and buying of goods and services in the local market. This
unforeseen shifting into online shopping and delivery system becomes a homebody reset
for all and is widely appreciated by many. Due to the positive impact, people start to open
online stores on electronic commerce platforms and seek this as an opportunity to sell and
attract customers nationwide. ALYSOFIE is owned by Ms. Sophia Bacuno, a local
cosmetic and beauty online shopping business. It has been 1 year since the business is
operating and still encountering struggles to be recognize in the competitive market today.
The shop has been using online platforms to boost its sales but as a small business, it is
challenging to advertise products because of competitors. Aside from that, the owner is
facing a hard time dealing with customers concerns such as requesting different address of
delivery, difficulty of providing credentials that are needed for the shipping details and
hesitant to purchase due to frequent issues of selling fake items. The owner also deals with
bogus buyer or scammers. For these reasons, the proponents will create a marketplace that
has high security measures that could prevent counterfeit products, fake sellers, and
customers. In addition, the proponents will create a marketplace that prioritizes promoting
underrated local sellers to gain recognition nationwide. Also, the proponents will also
create a system that seller can track a delivery order to ensure it safely arrives, and
customers can notify sellers if the item is in good condition. Moreover, the proponents
will also generate a chat system that could use by seller and customer to communicate. The
proponents will be gathering different studies from various literature to understand and
learn how to create a functional and accessible website.

INTRODUCTION
Project Context
The Philippine business economy started to change when electronic commerce
raised its popularity and increased demand in the local market since the early
pandemic began. People warmly embraced the new norm of buying and selling
goods and services in the local and international business market. Brands and
Companies began shifting to selling method into online delivery and online selling
and endorsing products on all-online shopping platforms and websites. This sudden
shifting to online delivery becomes more convenient, practical, and homebody reset
for all consumers and sellers. Due to the public demand, people started to establish
online businesses on e-commerce platforms in the Philippines.
Lazada and Shopee are the leading electronic commerce platforms and became the
most convenient communication channels during the pandemic. Lazada and Shopee
wrapped up the year 2020 and 2021 and accumulated more than 1 million newly
verified sellers on the platforms; most of the sellers were from China, Taiwan,
Indonesia, and the Philippines. And up until now, the number of sellers registered
on both platforms growing steadily. In 2020, due to the increase of international
sellers registering on Shopee and Lazada, it was hard for local consumers to
recognize some local sellers in the Philippines because of a lack of funds to promote
and advertise seller’s stores. As a result, local sellers become underrated on both
platforms and decided to force down seller’s online stores.
When Electronic commerce platforms were introduced to the public and became
widely known, many sellers took this as an opportunity to build and grow seller’s
online business, particularly in Shopee and Lazada. Unfortunately, many sellers
experienced fraud on both platforms due to a lack of security measures in 2020.
Some sellers describe it as a bogus buyer. Numerous complaints about some bogus
buyers usually gave wrong information delivery details to the seller. Then, once the
product was delivered to the given address, the owner of the address will deny the
order, and ask the courier to bring back the order to the seller.
STI College Fairview
1
On the other side, numerous reports selling counterfeit products have been sold on
both platforms due to a lack of security measures. In addition, many customers
complain that many stores often posted wrong descriptions of products, such as
wrong size charts, Measurements of the product, Materials used in the products,
Product images, and many more. Furthermore, Lazada and Shopee offer limited
control on sellers to advertise products and restrict both sellers and customers from
having possible direct communication. Moreover, there is always a price war on
both platforms due to numerous sellers having the same product offer in the market,
which gives a hard time attracting customers.
Purpose and Description of the Project
When E-commerce platforms started to pave the way in the Philippine business
economy, we quickly embraced the digital phenomena. This new method of selling
leaves a positive impact on the Philippine economy, and Shop Locally welcomed
the positive changes. Shop Locally is an online shopping marketplace that makes
customers shopping easy and convenient for all ages, helps to elevate the style, and
keeps up with the fashion trend. Shop Locally is a merchandise marketplace that
allows online stores to promote any authentic item offers with wide product
variants. This platform allows local sellers to have recognition and aims to prioritize
underrated local sellers in advertising on the platform to attract more customers
nationwide.
The system that the proponent is making will have different functions that the seller
and customer will use. Shop Locally requires new users to register on the website
and once verified, the user will use the verified information to log in to the website
to experience the Shop Locally website with all its full features. Before navigating
the website, the user will choose to be a customer or a seller. When the user chooses
to be a customer, the web will show and promote all the product offers of local
stores on the website. The whole website design would be a catalog feeling that
even a non-tech-savvy user can understand and familiarize the whole layout of the
website and have comfortable and easy browsing. The customers can search items,
STI College Fairview
2
and see the full description and pictures of the whole product, the website will have
add to cart feature, which the user can choose products to purchase from the store
without actually completing the payment, and once decided, the customer will click
the place an order button and start giving the information delivery details, full name,
and the active phone number of the receiver for the couriers and sellers.
Shop Locally offers two payment options. The users can pay through online
payment such as GCASH or online bank and Cash on Delivery. When the users
preferred to pay through GCASH, the user must provide cash full name and
cellphone number, and once it is settled the order can now proceed to the shipping
and delivery process. If the users preferred Cash on delivery, it is automatically on
the shipping process and waits for the courier to deliver the product to the given
shipping address. Once the item is successfully delivered, the customer can click
the Order receive button for the seller to track if the customer has picked up the
item. The customer can leave a rating on the shop on the experience of the service
that the sellers give, which can play a big part in local sellers being recognized in
the market.
The uniqueness of this website, it will offer the same-day delivery or request the
preferred day of shipment, and users can choose a mode of payment through Cash
on delivery or online payment. Shop Locally will aim to build a trusted connection
to buyers and consumers making a seamless and secured online transaction and
helping local sellers to be known in the competitive market.
Objectives of the Study
The proponents will be determining the effectiveness of Incorporating online tools
in the progression of sales in local and small businesses here in the Philippines. The
making of SHOP LOCALLY comes from an idea of the struggles of the online
seller on various online platforms especially the new ones and so the proponents
will be creating a website that will support entrepreneurs.

Administrator
The administrators will be the super-user of the website. The administrator
will be the one who will monitor each user’s activities on the website and
user profile. Not only the administrator has the advantage manage all the
information of users, but the administrator also has the authority to manage
sellers, users, and approval reports. All operations such as approvals and
monitoring will be done from eight (8) am to six (6) pm in Philippine time.

each shop’s progress, the interaction of the seller with customers and
the shop profile. The sellers are the owner of each store and the one
who manages the orders transaction on the website. Since the sellers
are the one who manages the order transaction of each own store,
the sellers have the privilege to monitor all the transactions. It is
stored and organized in a customized view that displays all the
transactions, such as the name of the product order, date of order,
information on the customer, payment status, fulfillment status, and
total payment. In addition, the sellers have the privilege to manage

review the report file by the customer, if it follows the instructions
asked by Shop Locally. The customer should comply with all the
requirements being asked in the instructions to approve the request
of the customer. Once the administrators approved the request which
will usually take one (1) to three (3) days, the seller should follow
the agreement, or else, sellers will get sanctioned.

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE/SYSTEMS
Review of Related Literature
This chapter discusses articles and studies that are connected to the proponent’s
research topic, which is SHOP LOCALLY, an online shopping website. The
literature is categorized as local and foreign sources that will support and
understand how it performed.
The proponent then uses the internet to search for articles and studies that would
play a big part in understanding the research study, which helps to gain some
knowledge on how to develop a system effectively.
The review of related literature and review related systems and studies is essential
for the development of the whole website to have the proper insight on the
importance of creating a secured and easy access electrical commerce platform
which the proponent’s named SHOP LOCALLY an online shopping for all
customers and local sellers.
Local Literature
A Study on Customer Perception Towards Online Shopping (Taruna,2020)
According to the study of Taruna in the year 2020 titled as A Study on
Customer Perception Towards Online Shopping shows on what is the
perception of consumers in using online shopping. Online shopping
provides convenience and shows a big difference in behaviors purchasing
in a physical store and people from villages to cities become reliable with
online options. Some things to consider by a seller are to orient customers
on how it functions such as online transactions and provide them the mode
of payment ensuring that customers would not feel any risk using the online
shopping. Online promotional tools are effective in reaching out to the
target customers in different places since consumers use the internet
currently. With the use of visual and proper information, the technology
STI College Fairview
12
then provides options to use tools such as colored pictures or images on the
entire product comes with a description on how to use it or its qualities. All
types of products and services have a big potential to be supported and sold
over the internet.
In this study, proponents gathered the idea that the customer’s point of view
should be given importance since physical store and online shop has a huge
difference, some of the customers that are not tech-savvy could have a hard
time navigating. Some of the points that proponents will do are to have an
easy layout or design for the website, the use of images, accurate
information, and proper instruction and guidance for payment transactions.
Why online shopping is booming in the Philippines (Dan Manglinong,2018)
According to the article of Dan Manglinong in the year 2018 tiltled as Why
online shopping is booming in the Philippines shows that the Philippines
has ranked second to Indonesia which is 57 percent of Filipinos using online
shopping, especially during the Christmas season and special holidays it is
also found that Qoo10 and Lazada are the most used online shopping hubs
in the country. In early 2015 9 out of 10 Filipinos preferred online shopping.
Since it is more convenient and offers cheaper prices and special deals,
almost all entrepreneurs are still rising on relying upon using Electrical
Commerce.
In this article, Proponents gather some ideas that all most half of the
population in the Philippines use online shopping and this idea gives the
proponents in developing SHOP LOCALLY to give opportunities to sellers
specifically the local ones since local is cheaper and offers good quality.
Having a big percentage of customers gives sellers a motivation to pursue
the business, improve services and product quality, and most importantly
open the door to being recognized.
The State of The Philippines e-commerce: How Retail Brands Benefit (D.
Reyes,2018)
STI College Fairview
13
According to the article of D. Reyes in the year 2018 titled as The State of
The Philippines e-commerce: How Retail Brands Benefit said that the
physical world is slowly emerging with technology. Digital has played a big
role for the business owner to know the market’s taste, the consumer
preferred shops, preferences, and mode of payment. One of the most
popular Electrical commerce in the Philippines is Lazada which grabs
millions of consumers they provide all the needs and wants of each. With
Electrical commerce platforms, the entrepreneur can distinguish how many
times the product is viewed by consumers and make it as motivation to
convert it into a sale then the Loreal Country Managing director mentions
that “Electrical Commerce helps the brand to stay relevant these days”.
While the number of consumers increases. there are still issues that need to
give importance which as trust. A Baptist said that brands must maintain
the connection to their customer’s trust and privacy comes with giving good
quality products, ensuring that all process online is smooth, and always
giving the best experience to the customer on using an Online shopping app
or website.
In this article, proponents gathered an idea to maintain a good connection
to customers by providing them a good service that applies privacy and
customers’ trust. In the idea, proponents then discuss having a verification
in SHOP LOCALLY where in that module users will provide a valid id that
should be accurately the same as the details in the registration.

Online Shopping: Evolving Consumer Behavior Amid the Pandemic (saahil
Goel, 2020)
According to the article of Saahil Goel in the year 2020 titled as Online
Shopping: Evolving Consumer Behavior Amid the Pandemic discusses the
effect of the pandemic and reshaping the way business works. The electrical
commerce industry has been a way to open opportunities for the business to
STI College Fairview

be evolved and grow. Before the pandemic happen, most people imported
goods from other countries. The pandemic disrupted the supply chain and
almost all the imported goods cannot pass through because of restrictions
but then this become a light for all local sellers titled “the vocal for local”
and it has been gaining attention for all the people to purchase and support
local source products which then become a major step in India to be selfreliant on its resources. People also prefer quick doorstep services, or oneday delivery then online shopping has become popular in the electrical
commerce industry and sellers are finding a way to develop a seamless postorder experience for the customers which they are aiming to boost the
satisfaction of each buyer with the services and products provided.
In this article, the proponents gathered the idea that customers prefer a quick
delivery of items. Developing SHOP LOCALLY, proponents didn’t include
delivery that can be like Shopee and Lazada that would take 2-3 days.
Proponents then decide not that apply that module instead in SHOP
LOCALLY, sellers can offer trusted couriers that would deliver products
on the same day, it can also be a pick-up and most importantly customers
can customize the shipping address to deliver it to places customers want.
The role of e-commerce in changing entrepreneurship as a career (Ankit patel,
2018)
According to the study of Ankit Patel in the year 2018 titled The role of ecommerce in changing entrepreneurship as a career Electrical commerce
sales reach 13 percent in the year 2019 as it is starting from 10.1 percent. It
becomes a great chance for entrepreneurs to expand their boundaries to start
an online store which becomes important since it will not limit the choices
for the customers reach and for entrepreneurs to go along with the success
of online shopping. Online shopping becomes the ultimate best friend of all
since it is easy to use by opening the application or website giving the best
categories on the customer’s wants and desires and the selected item can be
received within a day or a week depending on customers’ request. It became
STI College Fairview
15
popular day by day since it can provide convenience to shopping anytime
and very certain that it saves plenty of time and energy compared with walkin shopping. With the electrical commerce business, there will be less
capital investment than to have a physical storefront, and sellers should
deliver quality products to consumers from time to time and promote
business in all possible ways with the use of the internet. It also becomes a
way to improve the medium of communication between vendors and
consumers by using the right marketing strategy wherein setting up the right
way on billing and payments that can be processed within a second and not
waiting for 30 days clearance of the check. Overall, the other way to attract
customers is to make your online shop attractive, and productive and the
user interface should be friendly.
In this study, proponents gathered an idea that electrical commerce becomes
a way to improve payment transactions where it will take a minute to be
processed rather than a 30-day clearance. In creating Shop Locally, the
customer will choose the mode of payment. It can be cash on delivery or
online payment such as G-cash, PayPal, or bank transfer that instantly
transfers cash in a minute.
E-COMMERCE DEVELOPMENT AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN THE
PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA (Huang, Shaban, Song, and Yu Wu,2018)
According to the study of Huang, Shaban, Song, and Yu Wu in the year
2018 title as E-commerce development and entrepreneurship in the people’s
Republic of China discusses the importance of Electrical commerce which
then received more and more attention. Electrical Commerce has
significantly impacted both rural and urban areas wherein it enhances
entrepreneurship in many ways not just in a start-up new business that
leaves remarkable specifically in rural areas. It also encourages to be almost
identical with a physical store or business to Electrical commerce such as
the wholesale, transportation or delivery, and the use of information
technology. Electrical commerce becomes reliable to consumers and at the
STI College Fairview
16
same time for entrepreneurs, it lessens the transactional and operational cost
of business. The social network is one of its tools to expand trading since it
offers free advertisement to all places possible. Given all the positives side,
the government should empower the usage of Electrical Commerce in the
local economy to upgrade its industrial structure.
This study gives proponents an idea that online shopping has less cost when
it comes to operation and transaction. Developing SHOP LOCALLY, all
users either customers or sellers would not pay anything. Proponents do
support local seller but also supports those online shoppers who love to buy
and will support the SHOP LOCALLY’s goal.

ABC Company E-Business System (Esteban and Bocado, 2020)
According to Esteban and Bocado in the year 2020 titled as ABC Company
E-Business, is to help vendors to sell products and find customers a product
that they need. The ABC company electronic-business system aims to allow
vendors to have ABC vendor's accounts to post items on the website by
registering on the computer system for security and privacy policy. Also,
customers should register first to browse the product and navigate the
website. All the registered information is stored in a database system to
secure, easy access, and update by Administrator, and organize all the data
from the system. The ABC company is a system accessed by three types of
end-users. First, the Administrator is assigned for website maintenance;
Second, the sellers are in charge of posting the product item on the website
through a computerized system. Lastly, The ABC company has recordkeeping to monitor the total number of items available and activities of users

This study gives an idea to proponents of what modules SHOP LOCALLY
should have for it to operate effectively. It should have a registration and a

privacy policy that the customer should agree to and the 3 end-users. The
Administrator is responsible for the whole operation, the sellers selling
good quality products and services, and a company that would keep a record
of sales and items to monitor the activity of each shop.
Online Ordering System (Capstone Project, 2020)
Based on the study of the capstone project in the year 2020 titled as Online
Ordering System aims to provide an online ordering system to have hasslefree shopping transactions for both sellers and customers. The system
provides convenient shopping for all, wherein customers can order at home
by just clicking a mouse. The website of the system will display the product
catalog with details and prices through a computerized system. However,
customers should register first by giving basic information and making a
log-in password to have access account on the website. All the customer
profiles and sale transactions on the website are well-stored by a database
system. This system provides a payment facility through a payment
gateway, which gives customers more payment options. Also, the system
allows vendors to monitor their product inventory and income through
record-keeping to check the progress of the website. And lastly, this system
provides tracking systems, which let customers monitor their orders for
delivery.
This study gives an idea for proponents of the tracking of the delivery. In
SHOP LOCALLY, real-time delivery is not one of its components but it can
still be tracked on the seller’s side if it’s received in the chat button that also
has the customer’s map or conversation of the whole transaction.

Integration of Stores (Tanisha Kumari, 2020)
According to Tanisha Kumari in the year 2020 titled as Integration of store,
the system website will be divided into three modules: Administration,
STI College Fairview
18
Moderator, and User. For the explanation, the first module is called
administration which is known as the power user of the website. The
administrator is the only user who can access the Administrator page and
manages all the users, sales and order transactions, and product information
on the website. All the user profiles and product information in the system
are stored in a database system to organize, access, and update all the
information inside the system website. Second, the moderator is wellknown as the second hand of the administrator. The moderator has the
privilege to manage the product orders and inventory. Also, the moderator
can check the order transaction but cannot control other moderators. Lastly,
the users were acknowledged as the customers of the website. Before users
can shop or purchase on the website, the users should register and make login first for security and privacy purposes. The users are required to give
basic information and make a log-in password to access the website.
Afterward, the users can view the product on the website, search for a
specific item, then add the item to the cart, submit the cart to place a
payment order, then track and wait for the purchase ordered arrival with the
use of tracking system and home delivery system.
In this study gives the proponents an idea to improve the verification in
SHOP LOCALLY, most online shopping has registration same as the
SHOP LOCALLY but does not have double verification which then
proponents will add verification that will heighten up security the first
verification providing a phone number or email address that will receive a
code and the second verification by providing Valid id.

Synthesis
Through the studies and articles gathered by the proponents, Electrical
commerce and online shopping is becoming popular as days go by
reasoning that it’s more convenient and time saver. This gives an idea to the
proponents to create a website that will have a friendly interface that would
be easier for the user to familiarize the whole website’s features. Another
vital information that the proponents get is the importance of security which
involves the credentials of each user on what are the effective way to protect
and secure it such as improving the registration and log in giving an idea to
implement a verification to heighten up the security where in this way the
customer and seller will feel that all the information provided are safe. Trust
is what makes a website be used by many, once established the progression
will take place on the sales of each seller and enhancing the full operation
of the website because of the suggestion of each user. The article also
discusses the advantage of applying technology in the traditional way of
business. The proponents learned that electrical commerce becomes the way
to hear the voices of small businesses and local sellers, giving the seller’s
away to be recognized and appreciated in the competitive market that is now
existing. In electrical commerce, the proponents learned the progression on
the side of the sellers and the SHOP LOCALLY website will be done by
using a proper module or features. Make sure that each one works with each
other giving all the best experiences of online shopping.

TECHNICAL BACKGROUND
Overview of Current Technologies Used in the Current System
Ordering
Based on the interview that the proponents conducted to the client which is
an online seller, the client’s customer used Facebook and Shopee for placing
an order. If the customer of the client wanted a pick-up delivery, the client
will give the location then the client will ask for what item the customer
wants to avail and what time the customer want to pick it up. If the customer
clients want a delivery, the client will be asked for details such as the full
name, Contact number, Full address, and what item to order and it will be
inputted in the order form. This information will be used for the shipment
and the client will be checking for the shipping fee and give it to the
customer on what amount to be paid. In Shoppe, the customers will be
choosing what items the customer wanted to avail such as choosing a shade
of lip tint and place a check out if the customer wanted to place an order. If
the customer avails a BFF package that has a lip tint, a minimalist necklace,
and a scrunchie, the customer will add it to the cart or to check out which
then the customer can leave a remark for request shades or the customers
can chat the client.
Delivery and receiving of the order
For Facebook, the client uses an order form for the client customer to fill
out such as the full name, Address, Contact number, and item to order which
will be needed to place a delivery to a trusted courier such as BTS Delivery,
Toktok and Express Courier. In Shopee, the client has shipping options that
depend on what is the available courier in the client’s location and J&T is
the courier that the client uses the customer just needs to check out the item
which will then send a notification to the client’s account then confirm the
order, getting the tracking number and schedule the pick of the client’s
courier or the client will be the one who will sent it directly on courier
STI College Fairview

branch. For receiving the item on Facebook, the client trusted courier will
chat with client once the customer has already received the item. In Shopee,
it will be updated on the status of the order. If the item will be delivered, it
will be tagged as our of delivery and once the item is received by the
customer, it will be tagged as order received. For the client’s side, when the
parcel is successfully delivered, it will be inputted to the complete shipping
section.
Place a report for return or refund of item
Based on the proponent’s client, the client never had experienced a
replacement or a refund but as a small business, the client has restrictions if
customers place a report. The customer needs to take a video upon
unpackaging the parcel which will be proof for the client in case the item is
damaged before approving the request. The client also suggests that if the
customer has a concern regarding the item, the customer should chat first to
resolve the issue.
Feedbacks
On Facebook, the client’s customer sends feedback through chat once the
customer already received and use the product which mostly takes one
week. The feedback will be the client’s basis to improve product quality and
service. In Shopee, once the customer clicks the ordered receive button, it
will be directed to the rating page.
Methodology
The rapid application development methodology is the method diagram that the
proponents will use in creating the system. This method helps the developers finish
the coding while creating the document simultaneously.
Proponents choose this methodology because this method is the fastest way to
finish the system and documentation. (For the full details of the rapid flowchart,
proceed to Appendix D, Figure 1.1 User diagram, Figure 1.2 Seller diagram &

Requirements
In Requirements, it will be determining the system's goals and the
information that will be needed to achieve the result from the goals. All
members must be fully engaged throughout this time.
User Design
The user design will be the list of processes where the user will be the center
of the product design and development. It will be discussing the user’s
requirements, the objective, and feedback. User design will be prioritizing
the needs and wants of the user that will aim to satisfy customers.
Construction
The construction will be providing information on methods and procedures
that the proponents will be using in the whole project.
Cutover
In cutover, it will be the part when the project is ready for the trials or the
website deployment. It will be providing a series of steps that will help the
project to be accomplished and successfully run.
Calendar of Activities
This document contains the comprehensive sequence of events that the proponents
must go through to complete the SHOP LOCALLY. This also includes the purpose
of the proponent’s activities. The tasks and works that the proponents have
completed can be found below:
Requirements gathering analysis
The proponents start to brainstorm for the capstone project then the
proponents decided to make a website that is a marketplace that will help
local sellers and organizations. The proponents agreed that the website will
be titled SHOP LOCALLY.The proponents planned to choose Mr.
STI College Fairview
23
Reynaldo G. Paguntalan Jr. as the thesis adviser. For the month of February
(2022) up until the month of March (2022), proponents discussed SHOP
LOCALLY with Mr. Reynaldo G. Paguntalan Jr. and wait for his approval
to become the thesis adviser. Mr. Reynaldo G. Paguntalan Jr. agreed that he
will be the thesis adviser of the proponents. Then the proponents started to
find the SHOP LOCALLY clients. Also, for March (2022), The proponents
create ten (10) interview questions for the client that will become the base
of creatinga
SHOP LOCALLY. For the month of April (2022), the
proponents conducted the interview and know what the main problem of the
client is. The proponents then started to create chapter one (1) of the
documentation
that
is
based
on
the
client’s
main
problem.
Creating user design
For the month of April (2022) the proponents started to draft what would be
the SHOP LOCALLY design will be. and how will be the website will
function. For the month of May (2022), the proponents create an HTML
and CSS design for the log-in page and find some resources as the basis for
the creation of the Onetime password for it to Operate well and effectively.
Construction
For the month of May (2022), the proponents’ task is to create the website
design using HTML and CSS. The proponents consult the client for the
suggestion om what should be added to the website and changed.
Cutover
From July (2022) to November (2022) the proponents finished the website,
and the website will be presented to the client. The client provides
suggestions for what the client thinks is the best for SHOP LOCALLY.
Finishing the website

For the Month of December (2022) the proponents presented the updated
website to the client to finalize it as the official website.
The Gantt Chart of Activities
A graphical representation of a schedule of the activity calendar. The
purpose of this is to monitor the progression of the development of SHOP
LOCALLY from begging up to the completion of the project.

APPENDIX C
TRANSCRIPT OF INTERVIEW
Interviewer:
In the year that you started doing an online business, what inspires you or
motivates you to pursue it?
Ms. Sophia:
When I first started my online business, what really inspired me was the
desire to gain customers and serve them and the desire to earn money on
my own.
Interviewer:
Through the things that motivate you, how about the struggles that you have
faced in the first month of your business?
Ms. Sophia:
Because my decision to start a small business appeared to be so sudden.
Things that happened in my first month were low sales because I only posted
my product in the Batangas, then pick up and meet up is the only way to pay
for the product because those are the only things that I can do, and I didn't
know what/who the best courier is at that time.
Interviewer:
What are the tools or ways that help you to overcome those challenges?
Ms. Sophia:
With Facebook, I discovered which applications, such as Shoppe and
Lazada, I could use for my business. I tried using Lazada, but it's too
complicated for me. Shopee, on the other hand, can be good for beginner
sellers, and that's what I used, as well as TikTok, where I used to watch
other online sellers here to learn more about business.
Interviewer:
When it comes to promoting your products, what are the social site do you
usually use?
Ms. Sophia:
I mostly use Facebook to promote my products in buy and sell group chats,
but I also use TikTok.
Interviewer:
Do you think that online shops contribute to your business growth? and
why?
Sophia Alyssa C. Bacuno
STI College Fairview
C1
Ms. Sophia:
Yes, I see that it has helped me a lot because more people see my products
online, not just in the Batangas, and it appears that I was able to expand
the number of people who can see my product.
Interviewer:
On dealing with customers, do have any trouble communicating with them?
such as refunds or replacements. explain further.
Ms. Sophia:
So far, no one has given us a refund or replaced the items.
Interviewer:
Follow up question with number 6, how about if its sales season or there are
certain events like holidays, most of those times there are numerous
numbers of messages and orders how do you handle it or what is the other
way you could do to manage it?
Ms. Sophia:
In Shopee, I don’t see any struggle because the customers only need to say
what shade of the product they want if the choices were not complete. For
example, they want the dark shade but in the Shopee app. Does not show
the dark shade variant. They directed a message to me to ask if the shade
they want is available. But, in Batangas or when the customer order from
me on Facebook. I struggle sometimes because on Facebook I need to know
many customers’ information like names, address and sometimes it’s hard
to communicate with Facebook customers because they don’t know how
parcel delivery works.
Interviewer:
regarding number 7, what is your estimated time of dealing with inquiries
from each customer?
Ms. Sophia:
In Shopee, I spend only 5-10 mins. But on Facebook I spend 15-25mins. But
it depends on how many items they want to buy because sometimes they are
ordering a lot. And since the purpose of their order is for gifts, they want
me to customize the product.
Sophia Alyssa C. Bacuno
STI College Fairview
C2
Interviewer:
You have used tools and other websites to promote your product. Would
there be a time that your product is not visible to the market and if so, what
can you suggest for us to help you in this matter?
Ms. Sophia:
Just like on the Shopee, since they have a lot of sellers. It is hard to find
your page if the customer is just scrolling on the application. And I believe
that’s why they have a lot of promos like 11.11 to help the seller that wants
to join on the said promo. And have listed their shop names that will
promote on the application. Like discounts, free shipping, and cashback. I
know something that as a seller you will pay Shopee to advertise your
market on many platforms like Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and any other
social media. If we see the advertisement in the shop and it says that SHOP
NOW and there are specific shops in the advertisement, it means the seller
paid for that.
Interviewer:
We have selected you to be part of the system that we are about to create,
in this matter do you think this could be a potential for your business to be
recognized in the competitive market? how come?
Ms. Sophia:
I see that my brand will become recognized in your system because I
believed that people love new things, and they are excited to use new things
such as applications. Especially if your system is very easy to use or user
friendly. Because most of my customers is having a hard time in using
Shopee because they don’t know how to put address properly. And does not
know how to use Shopee properly.
Interviewer:
as you go along would you continue to be an enthusiastic seller, or do you
see yourself pursuing it for a long time?
Sophia Alyssa C. Bacuno
STI College Fairview
C3
Ms. Sophia:
I see myself pursuing my business for a long time because I have a plan that
makes it very big like having a physical store. And add more items that I
will sell because I want my shop to become a shop for all people that want
to give gifts or love gift giving.
Interviewer:
you mentioned earlier, Shopee and Facebook do you encounter problems
using those application websites when it comes to dealing with your
customer
Ms. Sophia:
On Facebook, my main problem is getting shipping information from the
customers because some of them are giving me a hard time communicating
like they want a specific time that they want to ship the product. Sometimes
they are doubted then suddenly they want to cancel their order.
In Shopee, I have this moment when the customer wants to give their friend
gifts and they want me to ship the product to the said address. But the
Shopee does not support that. So, what we do is we continue the transaction
on Facebook. And that’s the problem I recently encountered on Shopee.
SECOND SET OF INTERVIEW
Interviewer:
In our previous interview, you mentioned that you use Facebook, TikTok,
and Shopee for the advertisements and to sell your products. When it comes
to security, do you have any doubts to give out business information to a
new online website as the proponents have chosen you to be part of creating
SHOP LOCALLY? And why?
Ms. Sophia:
: Taking a risk is part of my job as a small business owner because I need
to use social media and online marketplaces like Facebook, TikTok, and
Shopee for the exposure of my business. And for security, it's a little scary
because there are a lot of trolls who can give out our information to others,
but if that happens, I'll take it as an experience to know what I need to do
when it happens again when I try to use other platforms.
Sophia Alyssa C. Bacuno
STI College Fairview
C4
Interviewer:
you also mention that there is a struggle when it comes to getting all of the
details that are needed for the shipment and you also mention that some of
the orders are not pushed through. You are a seller but as a consumer to
other products, have you related yourself to some of those customers you
encountered that don't easily give out any credentials that are needed for
any online transactions? and why?
Ms. Sophia:
Yes, as a consumer, being doubtful about providing our credentials is
understandable, but in terms of live selling and what I do in my business
that requires their information to ship out, trust is the best option to ensure
the buyer and seller's transaction is successful. So, I put my trust in the
sellers I meet, and I also buy from live sellers.
Interviewer:
you have used a lot of online platforms for your business, is there any
suggestion you wanted to see on SHOP LOCALLY that is still not existing
in other online shopping that you would think will play a big part in the
progression of the sale in your shops as well as to the other sellers?
Ms.Sophia:
For me, since my business is more focused on people buying gifts, a
problem I've encountered is that I'll buy an item but want to ship it out in
another account, which is a problem because Shoppe does not have a
transaction like that, and Shoppe really needs to release such a transaction.
Follow up question:
Interviewer:
You mention before that, there is a customer that wanted to avail a product
on Shopee but wanted to deliver it to a different address, how do you handle
it?
Ms. Sophia: Yes, I've had that type of Customer, but they pay me first, and I'm the one
who delivers the items to the address they want via courier.
Sophia Alyssa C. Bacuno
STI College Fairview
C5
Interviewer:
Since Shopee isn’t only the online platform you are using, have you
encountered customers that have doubt providing their information since its
common these days that some experience scams or fake bookings? And how
did deal with that matter in case you already experience it?
Ms.Sophia:
Yes, but only once, because her address does not exist and what she adds
to cart is a package, so as a customer she must have followed up with me
like a chat but she's not responsive to me and I saw in her Shoppe account
that she does not have any record of successful delivery so that's what I did
is I left him a message that I give him only one day to respond to me and if
she does not respond to me I will cancel the shipment because there are a
lot of trolls.
Interviewer:
You also use Facebook as a way of selling and communicating with your
customer and on Facebook, you or the customer will be the one to choose
what couriers they want the item to be delivered unlike Shopee there are the
ones that will provide for it. Which of the two do you think is easier since
on Facebook it can be same-day delivery, unlike on Shopee it takes 3 days?
What do you think is the best?
Ms.Sophia:
In terms of who's easy to use, I prefer Shoppe because I don't have much to
do with the process, but if it comes to shipment, I prefer Facebook because
I can ensure that the customer I talk to is legit and that I can call them,
whereas Shoppe only has chat, so I don't know if they're legit or not, and
the number they put can't be called and also the address they put may be
incorrect.

THIRD SET OF INTERVIEW
Interviewer:
How to place an order? (Facebook and Shopee)
Ms.Sophia:
English translate on Facebook, I ask them if they want to pick up or deliver,
and if they choose to pick up, I give them our location before asking them
what their order will be and when they want to pick up the item. If they
choose delivery, I use an order form where the user enters some information
about them such as full name, address, contact number, and item to order. I
use this to calculate the buyer's shipping fee and send it to the buyer to
ensure that the buyer knows the amount of the item when the rider arrives.
In the Shoppe, items such as cosmetics with a variety of shades are
available; customers simply select the shade they want and check it out.
However, if the item they are going to purchase is a set item, such as our
BFF package, which includes a lip tint, one minimalist necklace, and one
scrunchie, they only need to add it to their cart or checkout the minimalist
necklace that they want to include in the package and place it in remarks or
chat our shop for lip tint shade.
How to place a delivery? (Facebook and Shopee)
English translate: on Facebook I have a form that they need to fill up, the
form need their Full name, Address, contact number, at item to order. This
is what I use to fill out the needed details for set for pickup and delivery to
the courier that trusted by my shop like bts delivery and toktok and also the
express courier because of their fastest delivery of item. The seller on
shoppe has the option of shipping. It is dependent on the available courier
in the seller's location, and the only available courier to our location is J &
T, which is why this is my courier in shoppe. The buyer only needs to check
out the item and a notification will be sent to my shoppe seller account. And
that is where I will confirm the buyer's order and take their tracking number,
as well as schedule when the courier will arrive and whether I want the rider
to pick it up at our house or I will take it to their branch.

Ms. Sophia:
I'm going to start with this because my company is still small and I'm very
strict about return/refund policies. The buyer must record a video while
opening the package, which will serve as proof to us that the package they
opened was damaged before we accept a return/refund if this situation
occurs again in the future. I have not yet had a buyer request a refund or
return, but if they are on Facebook, it is guaranteed that they will message
me on my main account or on our page ALYSOFIE to request a refund or
return. We will first take the buyer's statement as to what is wrong or
damaged in the item, and if the problem is caused by our shop, we will set
a time and date to return the item to our shop and issue a refund. In the
Shopee, there is a return/refund button that the buyer can confirm, but I
recommend that they talk to me first if there is a problem with the product
or if it has damage before requesting a refund or return, because once the
item has been returned to the seller, the shipping fee for returning the
product will be deducted to us, and once the buyer requests a refund and I
accept it in the Shopee, it will be deducted to the seller Shopee wallet and it
will go to the buyer.
How to tag as a received item? (Facebook and Shopee)
on Facebook, my trusted courier will chat with us once the buyer receives
the item. For the Shopee, it is updated in the application since the parcel is
received and at which station it went through until the parcel is out for
delivery, the parcel has been delivered and it will go to the complete
shipping
section
of
the
seller.
How to rate or post feedback? (Facebook and Shopee)
on Facebook, once the buyer uses the item, they message me for feedback;
sometimes after a week of purchase, I ask the buyer if the product is good
or if there are any flaws in the product so that I can fix it and reformulate or
replace the supplier; so far, we have only received positive feedback. After
the buyer receives the item, the seller can get the money and go to the
seller’s wallet because the j&T who delivered the parcel needs to confirm
the order received, but if the buyer forgets to click the button, it will take
five days before it automatically lands in the seller's wallet.
How to become a seller? (Facebook and Shopee)
On Facebook, just join buy and sell groups and there you can post items for
sale. For the Shopee, you need to prepare a valid id and bank account
because from the bank account the seller can withdraw the money that went
to the seller’s wallet to the Shopee.
