Guide To Contacting ATC Made and used in SAFS (San Andreas Flight Simulator), external use is prohibited. Phrases To Be Aware Of: Some commonly used phrases are: Pushback - This phrase generally refers to the part where an aircraft is pushed back from its stand to the taxiway facing a particular direction. Taxi - Taxiing refers to the ground movement of the aircrafts. Go-Around - It is the procedure of aborting a landing and retrying it by re aligning it to the runway. Approach - It refers to the procedure of heading towards and aligning to the runway. On-Final - It refers to the state of the aircraft when it is aligned to the runway and ready to land. Understanding UNICOM: When an airspace is uncontrolled by any ATC, the pilot has to announce all of his actions at a particular frequency (122.8) which makes it easier for the fellow pilots to be aware of the particular movements at the airport/airspace. Made and used in SAFS (San Andreas Flight Simulator), external use is prohibited. Different Phases of Flight: The Different Phases of flight while in UNICOM in order are: 1. Pushback - Once you are ready for a flight and pushback, you need to announce it so that other taxiing aircrafts are aware of the obstacles during taxi as follows: Pilot: [Callsign] Pushing back onto Taxiway [Taxiway], at [Gate] 2. Taxi - Once Pushed back and ready for taxi, check for blocking traffic on the taxiway, if none then announce your taxi as follows: Pilot: [Callsign] Taxiing to Runway [Runway] OR Pilot: [Callsign] Taxiing to Runway [Runway], Via Taxiway [Taxiway] to holding point [Holding Point] 3. Takeoff - Once at the holding point of the Runway, confirm that there is no approaching/departing traffic off the Runway, safely enter the runway after announcing your takeoff as follows: Pilot: [Callsign] Lining up and Taking off Runway [Runway], departing towards [North/South/East/West] (Optional) 4. Cruise - Once airborne and changing altitudes, you should announce it as follows: Pilot: [Callsign] [Descending/Climbing] [Altitude] Made and used in SAFS (San Andreas Flight Simulator), external use is prohibited. 5. Approach - Once on approach for the airport, announce your approach as follows: Pilot: [Callsign] Passing [Altitude], approaching runway [Runway] You can also announce your phase of approach/circuit as shown below: Pilot: [Callsign] Passing [Altitude], approaching runway [Runway], at [Downwind/Base/Straight In] 6. Landing - Once ready to land and on final, announce your position as follows: Pilot: [Callsign] On Final Runway [Runway] 7. Go-Around - If in case your landing is unsuccessful and you need to go around, announce it as follows: Pilot - [Callsign] Going Around, [Runway] climbing [Altitude], joining [Left/Right] Downwind 8. Taxi Back to Gate - Once Landed and vacated the Runway, announce your taxi as follows: Pilot: [Callsign] Runway [Runway] Vacated, Taxiing to [Gate] OR Pilot: [Callsign] Runway [Runway] Vacated, Taxiing to [Gate] via [Taxiways] That’s it! You have complete a successful flight while being under UNICOM. Made and used in SAFS (San Andreas Flight Simulator), external use is prohibited. Important Notes: While Flying in an UNICOM airspace be-aware of the following: - All procedures are same for IFR and VFR Flights Remember the Phonetic Alphabets (Alpha, Bravo, Charlie etc). You will be kicked/warned in the server if you break the rules of the server at any point. Remember to set your callsign (using the /callsign) command before initial contact with the ATC. Always keep in check for visual separation i.e if there is any traffic where your supposed to go Always use the /atc command to announce your actions OR the frequency VC if that is actively in usey In SAFS you can check the UNICOM config (Landing and Departing RWYs) by hovering over the airport icon in the map Made and used in SAFS (San Andreas Flight Simulator), external use is prohibited.
