Supplier Connect: What is it?
Supplier connect is a new ‘buyer’s guide’ exclusively
for AIAG members to showcase their offerings and
capabilities on the leading website for Automotive
Quality, Supply Chain, and Corporate Responsibility
solutions.
Supplier listings will be visible to anyone on the
internet, but only AIAG members can post their
company information to Supplier Connect.
Suppliers are encouraged to list not only what they
currently offer, but what they are capable of offering to
help in driving new business.
Supplier Connect is located right on the AIAG
website.
Supplier Connect: Why?
Supplier Connect was developed in response to AIAG
member company purchasing manager’s requests for
information on member company suppliers who made, or
could make, specific products and services.
Purchasing managers look at AIAG member companies
as trusted sources of products and services that
understand and have committed to using the industry
developed Automotive Quality, Supply Chain, and
Corporate Responsibility solutions offered at AIAG.
Supplier Connect: When?
Available now at http://supplierconnect.aiag.org.
Supplier Connect: Who?
Company must have an active AIAG membership.
Anyone in the company can list their company
information, but the key contact identified in the AIAG
membership information has to approve prior to posting.
Supplier Connect: How?
Login using your current AIAG membership credentials.
Suppliers will be able to list their company by name,
provide a logo, and their contact information. But most
importantly, they can list all of their company’s products,
services, and capabilities by keyword, which will be used
by purchasing managers across the industry to search for
sources who understand and have committed to using
the industry developed Automotive Quality, Supply Chain,
and Corporate Responsibility solutions offered at AIAG.
To enter your company information,
log in to AIAG.org and open the
Supplier Connect Form in the blue box
on the right side of the page or visit
http://supplierconnect.aiag.org.

Supply Safe: Supplier Security Assessment
On April 16, 2002 representatives from several importers
joined US Treasury Secretary Paul O’Neill, US Customs
Commissioner Robert C. Bonner, Homeland Security
Director Tom Ridge and other dignitaries to publicly
announce the Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism
(C-TPAT).
These importers were the initial companies to sign a
memorandum of understanding with US Customs to
participate in C-TPAT.
A significant number of AIAG members participate
in the Customs – Trade Partners Against Terrorism
(C-TPAT) and other supply chain security systems.
Member companies have individually developed
questionnaires and processes to comply with
the C-TPAT Five Step Risk Assessment Process.
While effective, this results in duplication of effort
throughout the industry.
AIAG worked with members of the Customs/Supply
Chain Security Committee to develop a common
shared database and risk/threat assessment to be
used by automotive importers. A new AIAG solution
open to members and non-members will, at a
reasonable cost:
1. Provide common questions for all users
2. Simplify the collection of validation information
3. Identify follow up in response to weaknesses
4. Identify the type of supplier (material, purchasing,
transportation, etc.)
5. Generate reports and other visuals needed in a
validation
6. Be expandable to include other programs
System Details:
• Price = US $35,000/year
• Open to Non-Member companies
• No cost to trade partners responding to request
to complete questionnaire
• Landing page located on AIAG website at www.
aiag.org
• After C-TPAT launch, will enhance system to
include Partners in Protection (PIP) and Nuevo
Esquema de Empresas Certificadas (NEEC)
Subscribing to the service will include:
• Competitive price, low subscription cost versus
hiring a service independently
• No subscription cost to trade partners responding
to request to complete questionnaire
• Allow trade partners to complete one survey
universally accepted by participants (saves time
and less chance of error)
• Initial follow up to suppliers and technical support
provided by an AIAG resource
• AIAG Review Board and Integration Point will
monitor and implement changes

GLOBAL MMOG/LE - VERSION 4
The purpose of the MMOG/LE - Version 4 is to provide a single assessment tool that enables a comprehensive evaluation of MP&L
performance and capability. (One purchase per location site.) The MMOG/LE tool enables organizations in the global automotive supply
chain to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of its supply chain capability and performance.
One of the major amendments incorporated into version 4 is the development of MMOG/LE “Basic” which is a filtered version of the “Full”
MMOG/LE assessment, to be used by the tiered supply base to assess their sub-suppliers.
The “Full” version 4 contains 197 MMOG/LE criteria. The “Basic” version 4 is a subset of the “Full” criteria within the same document, made
available through the use of filters.

MATERIALS MANAGEMENT / QUALITY
THE GENERAL MOTORS MMOG/LE SUPPLIER REQUIREMENTS
In 2010, GM adopted the MMOG/LE Supplier Self-Assessment process as a tool to identify and mitigate supply chain risks and improve the
GM/Supplier relationship. Suppliers often ask what GM is expecting from the implementation of MMOG/LE and what does it take to be
considered MMOG/LE Compliant. TeamGM has planned several communications to clarify those expectations. Content is most beneficial to
GM Suppliers; however, all Suppliers are welcome to attend.

to the people involved. However, when Leadership sees the value of LPAs and participates appropriately, the organization can achieve
a culture of accountability, process control and continuous improvement. What’s the payoff? A reduction of scrap, rework, customer

CORE TOOLS SELF-ASSESSMENT
TRAINING
87
ISO/TS 16949 requires that “personnel performing work affecting conformity to product requirements shall be competent on the basis of
appropriate education, training, skills and experience.” Organizations use many sources for quality training today. Is your team ready? How
do you know?
AIAG has developed a free online survey to test basic competency in the automotive quality Core Tools, e.g. APQP/PPAP, FMEA, MSA and
SPC, which you can use to baseline your organization’s and/or your suppliers’ competency. The questions reflect information that everyone
in automotive quality today should know and was developed with the required knowledge for third-party ISO/TS 16949 auditors as an
input. Results can be used 1) to verify the effectiveness of your quality Core Tools training, 2) for supplier development, e.g. Tier 2, and 3) to
develop individual or group improvement plans.
This is not a certification program. It is an “open book” timed exercise that all automotive quality practitioners should master. Results
are communicated as a percent of correct responses by Core Tool. Summary reports are also available by organization for sponsoring
organizations. You can register for the self-assessment as many times as you would like, however, please note that you may only register
once in any given month. Don’t miss your opportunity to get this information at an incredible value!

B-10 TRADING PARTNERS IMPLEMENTATION GUIDELINE ELEARNING
The B-10 describes the template for bar code labels on shipping containers - both unit loads and transport packages - to convey data
between trading partners in the automotive industry.
The B-10 is the preferred format for shipping labels. Both label- and tag- marking methods for shipping containers and pallets of parts and
primary metals are covered in this guideline under the general term “label,” however, the B-10 is not a label, but rather a methodology for
designing trading partner shipping labels using the ANSI MH10.8.1 U.S. national, cross-industry standard, developed and maintained by the
ANSI committee MH10/SBC-8.
