Good Afternoon I am Koshin Das. Today I am going to write about my experience in the 1st Guwahati International Open GRANDMASTERS Chess Tournament 2022 held at DTRP Indoor Stadium, Guwahati from 14th to 20th of March 2022. I have taken part in this tournament in which I have scored 5/10. Every morning, my grandfather used to drop me to the venue. Then after the 1st round my parents used to come to the venue and we had our lunch together. On 14th, 17th, 19th, 20th of March 2022, my father stayed at the venue because on these days there was only 1 round each. On 15th, 16th, 18th of March 2022, my mother stayed at the venue because there was two rounds. In the 14th of March, there was one round which I lost to Arjun Ghimire from NEPAL. His ELO Rating was 1838. He played the Smith-Morra Gambit of Sicilian which was unknown to me. In the 15th of March, there was two rounds. In the first round I lost to Anuraag Saikia from DIBRUGARH. His ELO Rating was 1465. He played the Kings Indian Defence. In the opening I played a advance move. He took advantage of that move. In the second round on 15th of March, I played with a unrated player Piyush Pritom. In which I won easily. I played the Kings Indian Defence. In the 16th of March, there was also two rounds. In the first round I drew to Mujhyaman Thakuria from Assam. His ELO Rating was 1427. I played the LONDON System. In the second round of 16th of March, I played with Nilkamal Das of Assam . His ELO Rating was 1430. I have played the Kings Indian Defence. That was a good game but in the middle game I missed a calculation and played a wrong move. He brilliantly took advantage of that move and I lost. In the 17th of March, I drew with Anabil Goswami from Tripura, Agartala. His ELO Rating was 1334. I have played the Sicilian. This game was winning game of mine but I accepted the draw. A big mistake!! In the 18th of March, I won with Uddhav Phukan from Duliajhan. He was a unrated player and I played the LONDON System and I won easily. In the 19th of March, I lost to Vivek Rajkumar from DIBRUGARH. I was playing well but at the end I made a mistake in the move order. He took advantage of it. This was also a winning game of mine. His ELO Rating was 1525. I played the Kings Indian Defence. I felt really bad after losing to Vivek Rajkumar, , so I was crying at the venue sitting with my father in the car. My Coach felt really bad and gave me a punishment that I can’t have my lunch because I lost a easy game. My parents also skipped their lunch. So, on the last day and the last round of this tournament, I won with Debashish Deb Purakayastha from Assam. I played the LONDON System with him and won the game easily. His ELO Rating was 1403. So, in this grand tournament I increased my ELO Rating from 1073 to 1156, ♟♟♟😀😀👌! Some photos of mine during the game: Regards- Koshin Das.
