“Pepsi: A Urban Legend Remains Unsolved”
On May 31, 1985, Pepsi Paloma was found dead in her apartment, dead by
committing suicide. According to the police investigation, the rape case was one
factor in her suicide. Pepsi Paloma was only 14 years old when she and another
actress named Guada Guarin reported that they were drugged in a bar and brought to a
room where they were raped by Joey De Leon, Vic Sotto and Richie D'Horsie,
Even though the three suspects initially denied Paloma's accusations, they later
issued a public apology, on their knees on live TV. Due to the signed Affidavit of
Desistance, Paloma did not pursue her complaint and the case did not go to court.
Pepsi later said that she was forced to sign the affidavit by Tito Sotto who allegedly
wielded a gun in front of her.
One factor why this case is still not forgotten is because of a song called
“Spoliarium” by a famous band, Eraserheads. This case till today lives on as an urban
legend and the enigmas of this case remain unsolved.
