1. What is the relevance of using Political Caricature in the present Political
Setting of Philippine Politics? Explain
Political Caricature are a unique form of journalism which contrast with
conventional forms of communication. The images can cast a powerful
interpretation on the day’s news.They explain and explore stories in manners
that articles cannot. More effective than writing or video, they capture the
imitable human nature of their subjects in order to humanise the topic they
depict.
And also The Philippine cartoons speak of the American Era. It reveals some
truths about the Filipino conditions, the situation of the Philippines under
America, the social and political changes, and the cultural changes that
transpired during the American occupation in the Philippines.
2. What is the one message you’ve learned from Pres. Cory Aquino’s Speech.
Elaborate it.
Her speech, I think, was to remind the US of their role in the world when it
comes to promoting Democracy, and aiding countries with it. And that we must
remain vigil over it, unless we lose it. This was right after she helped bring back
a senses of democracy to the Philippines, with the Filipinos fighting for it.
This seems relevant today, with many democracies in the world under siege by
charismatic, populistic, leaders, who appeal on the emotional level to the masses,
while trying to undermine their country’s democracy to retain and grow their
own power.
