Course Description
Course overview:
The students will critically review operational process management models and their
relationship to the interrelated nature of running a business or an event.
Operational models will be reviewed and reflected upon in relation to supply chains
and environmental concerns. The course will also consider the challenges that
operations face in crisis situations.
Intended Learning Outcomes:
• LO1 Critically review operational process management models in relations to
• LO2 Identify internal and external resources needed to manage and operate a business
• LO3 Demonstrate the interdependency of internal and external players.
• LO4 Propose creative solutions to overcome operational limitations and threats.

Project Outline
Client Brief – RFP (Request For Proposal):
VIP Engagement Party event for clients’ son.
Arrival 13.10 – departure 15.10 unless exceptions
The client wants a famous performer for a 30 min showcase on
October 14th, 2023 from 8pm to 8:30pm.
The couple likes rock, pop, electronic (no rap).
Also need traditional indian music.
200 selected guests (family and friends, international)
Rooming list is provided with most guests details.
Guests will travel at own expense until nearest airport/train.
Project Outline
Client Brief – RFP (Request For Proposal) - continued:
Program idea:
13.10: Casual meeting @ night in the Hotel and 14.10 starting with lunch
14.10: Welcome drinks and appetizers; 10 minute speeches; surprise
Dinner with table magic; followed by, DJ night with dancers, Indian
with open bar;
Overall budget 2 Million USD (including agency fee)
The client does not wish to disclose the event to the media – so no
handle.
Project Deliverables
1.Event Program (running order with side programs)
2.Room allotment (Rooming list is provided with guest details)
3.F & B plan for all meals mentioned and drinks and venue
decoration
4.Venue plan with stage and technical requirements (AV)
5.Transportation planning (from airport / train, to venue and back,
based on your scenario)
6.Security, Risk Management and contingency plan
7.Staff Plan (Including external and internal workforce)
8.Detailed budget (Only headline budget with the 8 departments
for the pitch presentation)
Split of tasks per student - Groups of 6
(5 minimum depending on class size – Transportation and Staff sections not covered in this case)
