President Ali Saleh Al-Khalaf General Technical Information Saudi Fans Distinguished Features Saudi Fan Industries ' fans are equipped with direct driven external rotor motors, which have decisive advantages over conventional fans: Long Service Life Compact design The speed is 100% controllable through auto transformer or electronic control. Low starting currents. Advantages of our single phase type fans. We recommend the use of single phase fans (E), whenever possible, which offer the following advantages: Two or five cores plus earth cable only. Always correct direction of rotation. Motor protection through built-in thermal overload contacts, wired in series with the motor winding. Low cost speed controllers with 5 steps or electronic control, available ex-stock. External rotor motors The external rotor motor drive offers features such as space saving, compact and attractive design. The motor is fitted within the impeller, which enables the best possible cooling. For this reason a 100% variable speed control can be guaranteed. V-belts, additional tension bars and motor mountings are not necessary. Only over-dimensioned ball-bearings (German products), fitted on both side, sealed for life, are used. Both ball-bearing seats are ground to high precision in one work process to eliminate any vibrations. External rotor motors have extremely low starting currents. The motors comply with protection class IP44 according to DIN 40050. Protection class IP 54 for double inlet fans is available on request. External rotor motor construction Stator Labyrinth Insulation Class The windings of single inlet fans comply with insulation class B, the windings of double inlet fans comply with insulation class F. In addition the windings have a standard moisture impregnation. Thermal Protection All external rotor motors except the explosion-proof motors are equipped with thermal contacts, embedded in the windings to protect the motor. Thermal contacts are bi-metallic cutouts, temperature dependent, When properly wired they protect against overload, main-phase failure, stalling of motor and too high ambient temperatures. Motor protection is guaranteed, when the thermal contacts are wired through a tip contactor circuit. In connection with thermal contacts we recommend to fit our supplied controllers for better motor protection. For the exhaust of explosive mixture in temperature classes T1 to T3 in Zone 1 and 2, we offer fans with specific controllable motors in protection class "e", for intrinsically safe application, according to DIN 50019. Electrical connection Electrical connection will be made by an enclosed terminal box, protection class IP 44. As special execution we are able to deliver terminal box made of aluminum protection class IP 55. Selection of Fans The following must be considered when selecting a suitable fan; Desired air volume and pressure loss Possible sizes Sound characteristics Ambient conditions Electrical power supply and tolerances For the determination of the required air volume, any existing resistance must be considered, which determine the operating point. These losses could be from ducts and filters in front of or behind the fan, air diffusers, heating and cooling elements and ducts bends. Rotor These resistence vary at the square of the air volume and can be described in a specific characteristics curve. Ball bearing Ambient operating temperature Maximum ambient operating temperature can be taken from the data sheets. Should the temperature indicated not be sufficient, the possible temperature can be increased by using a larger motor (at extra expenses). Advantages of the plastic casing compared with sheet steel types: Lower noise level Completely corrosion resistant Easy installation with mounting brackets Higher pressure and better efficiency through guide vane Lower weight Application: Clean air ventilation Ventilation of commercial premises where low acoustic level is required (shops, meeting and conference rooms) Slightly dusty and greasy air, Slightly aggressive gases and fumes (please refer to our engineers). o Mediums up to an atmospheric density of 1,2 kg/m3 .& 50 C ambient / medium temperature An economical series due to its compact design, can remedy problems of low-flow ventilation. Ranges: Two Versions: Metal casing Models: Flow rate: Plastic casing Models: Flow rate: Type : R 11 Models up to 1350 CFM up to 2,300 m3/h Type : RS 9 Models up to 558 CFM up to 950 m3/h Construction Plastic casing The size RS 100L RS 315L are equipped with an attractive, impact strong and hardly inflammable plastic casing with integrated IP 44 terminal box and guide vane. Metal casing The casings of sizes R100 to R315 are manufactured of galvanized sheet steel, the casing of R355 is made of aluminum. Impeller The impellers from size 100 to 250 are made from plastic ( PA 25%GF). The impeller of the RS 315 is made of plastic. The impeller of the RS 315L is made of galvanized sheet steel. The impeller is mounted directly to the rotor of the external rotor motor and the motor impeller is balanced at two levels according to quality level G 2,5 according to DIN/ISO 1940. Motor The 100% variable speed external rotor motors are in accordance with protection class IP44 according to DIN 40050. Electrical construction according to VDE 0530, and Motor winding comply to insulation class B with moisture impregnation and built-in thermal protection. Electrical connection The motors are fitted with flying lead. The electrical connection can be made via an IP 54 terminal box. Documentation: Manufacturers declaration and operating instruction are according to machinery directive 89/392/EEC, CE identification in accordance to EMC-directive 89/336/EEC and low voltage directive 73/23/EEC. Installation Rigid folded spiral- seam (Spiro), flexible aluminum or plastic ducts with standardized diameter can be used. If the tube fan is used for several floor levels, the local laws concerning fire protection have to be observed. Speed control (for three phase) Guide for specification Inline fan for Supply/Exhaust service shall be type : R/RS, size : 100 to 355L as manufactured by Saudi Fan Industries, Saudi Arabia fitted with direct drive/ close coupled external rotor motor suitable with 127V or 220V 1Phase 50Hz or 60Hz power supply where required. PLASTIC CASING : TYPE RS The complete fan shall be constructed using a compact combination of external rotor motor close coupled to a backward curve centrifuga impeller to realize best possible cooling. The external rotor motor shall have a minimum of IP44 construction per DIN 40050; the insulation winding shall have class “B” construction with additional protection against moisture; each external rotor motor shall be 100% compatible with standard electronic speed control by varying fan speed from 100% to 10% of rated speed. Each motor shall have a built in thermal overload protection. The plastic casing shall be attractive, impact resistant, non-flammable plastic and 100% corrosion resistant. Each fan shall be equipped with an IP 44 terminal box with a wiring diagram. Fan shall be UL & AMCA listed. METAL CASING : TYPE - R Features Same as above. The metal casing shall be manufactured using galvanized steel sheets, with the exception of size : 355 which is made of aluminum. Fan shall be UL & AMCA listed.
