INTRODUCTION
Project Context
Quick-Response (QR) code is one of the most used application by people especially
when there was a pandemic, the QR code has been a great help around the world during
the Covid-19 pandemic and until today we still use QR code for verification purposes.
Some of the uses of QR code here in the Philippines is paying your bills, shopping,
knowing how old you are and tracking where you are, booking your transportations in the
bus or train. Here in the Philippines The QR payment was initially rolled out in the
beginning of the coronavirus pandemic.
You can simplify the process of tracking attendance in the classroom with the help
of a QR Code. Students in Maligaya National High School can scan the QR Code to mark
their attendance. This eliminates the need for manually calling out each students’ names in
the classroom. All in all, QR Code attendance tracking helps teachers manage attendance
in an organized manner.
According to Md Shamim Hossain November 2018. The aim of this study is to
evaluat e the impact of Quick Response (QR) codes on customer satisfaction and
purchase intention in the online shopping context on the basis of perceived flow. Sharing
information via QR codes will influence customers to engage and share information with
other customers in the online community, which will help to increase the volume of sales
rapidly.
Purpose and Description
According to Kaspersky.com. A QR code is a type of barcode that can be read
easily by a digital device and which stores information as a series of pixels in a squareshaped grid. QR codes are frequently used to track information about products in a supply
chain and because many smartphones have built-in QR code readers, they are often used
in marketing and advertising campaigns. More recently, they have played a key role in
tracing the coronavirus exposure and to slow the spread of the virus.
The proposed QR (Quick Response) code will be used for identification of the
parents of SPICT students. Parents can use it to ensure their children’s safety and their own
safety as well as easy identification for getting in said school, the profiles of parents being
stored in QR code will ensure a faster and safer way to manage parent-teacher meetings,
picking up their children from school and events and visiting.
General Objectives
This research paper aims to find out the effectiveness of using QR code in the ICT
students’ parents’ identification and students in Maligaya National High School.
1.To find what is the benefits of using QR codes in Maligaya National High School.
2. To minimize school’s difficulty on processing and gathering parents’ data.
Scope and Delimitation
This study is limited in finding the benefits of using QR Code in identifying the
parents of ICT students for School Year 2022-2023.The study is delimited to all parents of
SP-ICT in Maligaya National High School. The respondents are all of the SP-ICT students
from the 7th grade to 10th grade of 2022-2023.
CHAPTER II
RELATED LITERATURE
According to Ayop, Z. et.al (2018), Attendance process in a university’s event is
time consuming and tracking the attendance can be harder. In this paper, a smart event
attendance system for a university using QR code and GPS technology is proposed with
objective to speed up the process of taking students’ attendance and tracking full
attendance. The method of developing the system is based on two views; user view which
is the mobile application used by the students, and admin view which is the web
administration system used by the event organizer. From the evaluation, students’
attendance can be traced from the GPS location combine with QR code. The results indicate
that full attendance increases as the system validates attendance through users’
identification, location and timestamp during user login and logout. The proposed system
contributes to high satisfaction among the users that claim that the mobile application helps
to speed up the event registration helps to speed up the event registration process.
According to Wei, X. et.al. (2017), In this era of technology smartphones play a
significant role in our day to day life. Nowadays smartphones can solve most of the
problem very quickly and easily. It has made life of every person simple and easier with
different social app, commercial app, problem solving app, app for education and
marketing etc. The proposed system is a couple of two applications, one for generating the
QR Code by entering the student details and second application for taking the attendance
and generating the attendance in CSV or XLS format. The teacher will need to scan the
QR code of the particular student in order to confirm their attendance. The paper discusses
how the system verifies student identity to eliminate false registrations. The system deals
with the management and evaluation of attendance of all students. The student QR code
will be provided to professor for taking their attendance.
According to Corpuz, N. A. (2019), This study employed a descriptive method of
research. It was done through a survey questionnaire constructed for the purpose of
determining the status of the school and students in taking important information about
student's profile using quick response (QR) code. The participants emphasized the
importance of having a systematic method of acquiring students' profile. Using quick
response (QR) code it shows how Alitagtag Senior High School upgrade their strategy in
taking information for every student and a problem can also arise when inaccurate
assumptions of need are substituted fora formal needs assessment.
According to Rikala, J. (2019), The purpose of this article is to explore and analyze
teaching methods and processes that incorporate Quick Response (QR) codes and mobile
devices into the classroom. Quick Response codes are two dimensional barcodes that are
used to encode and decode information. QR codes can contain information such as text,
URL links, automatic SMS messages, or just about any other information that can be
embedded in a two-dimensional barcode. The students were very enthusiastic and
motivated but the teachers’ attitude was more skeptical. The main feedback from the
teachers was that the planning of QR activities is an arduous task when one is not familiar
with QR codes or the ways to utilize them. In our study we found that QR codes can support
learning in different contexts. We also found that QR codes can support both independent
and collaborative learning and that QR codes can motivate and engage learners. In this
study, students participated to explore the usefulness of using online learning through using
videos blended with QR code to enhance the students’ performance in understanding one
of the undergraduate foundation courses in the college of engineering, namely, engineering
economy. A survey was distributed to students after the core material of the course was
covered. The collected responses were then studied and analyzed.
According to Chee, K. M. (2021), The implementation of QR codes in education
has become increasingly popular recently, and quite a number of studies in this area are
available. Numerous studies have been carried out on the use of QR codes in the teaching
and learning process. In relation to such research, this critical review aims to examine the
potential of integrating QR codes in teaching and learning pronunciation. Given that no
previous study on integrating QR codes to teach and learn pronunciation has been carried
out, the articles were chosen on the basis of two main themes, namely, the potential use of
QR codes in language teaching and the implementation of technology-based methods in
teaching and learning pronunciation. The review revealed that QR codes have the potential
to be integrated in teaching and learning pronunciation because of their positive impacts
on the teaching and learning process. This review also delivers some suggestions for further
research in the use of QR codes in teaching and learning pronunciation
According to Rabu, S. et.al (2019) In institutions of higher learning, the attendance
of students to the class is directly related to their academic performance. However, the
record-keeping of most student attendance is still performed conventionally, which is
tedious and time consuming, especially that involve large classroom. Higher education
institutions in Malaysia are now encouraged to explore the potential use of Quick Response
(QR) code and smartphone as a future attendance management system to track and record
the student's attendance to the class and tutorial. In response, this study attempts to explain
the design and implementation of a proposed system developed using Google Drive,
Google Form, Google Sheet, Notepad, and QR Code Generator Add-ons in Google Sheet.
Students were required to scan the unique QR code assigned to them using their
smartphone during or at the beginning of each lecture in order to confirm their attendance.
This affordable QR code-based attendance system enables lecturers to speed up the process
of taking attendance, especially in a large classroom and would save them valuable
teaching time. The proposed system provides better security than the conventional methods
that depend on the sign-in sheet or roll calling student names including eliminating chances
of students signing up for others who may not be present. In addition, it also provides a
faster and simpler way to take attendance, which could be easily adopted by lecturers to
facilitate the process of taking, managing and keeping the record of students’ attendance.
According to Nuhi, A. et.al (2020), In higher education institutions, student
participation in the classroom is directly related to their academic performance. However,
the majority of student attendance registration is still conventionally done, which is tedious
and time-consuming, especially for those courses that involve large numbers of students.
Over the years, attendance management has been conducted manually at most of the
universities. To overcome the manual attendance issues, we proposed and implemented a
smart attendance system with the aim to encourage the potential use of the Quick Response
(QR) code as a future attendance management system, to track and record student
attendance in lectures and exercises for all relevant courses, as an aim of this paper.
According to Wibiyado, A. et.al (2018),This paper aimed at licensing documents
verification. Licensing can be interpreted as one form of implementation of regulatory
functions and controlling nature owned by the government against activities undertaken by
the community. The purpose of this research is to add QR code and Transport Layer
Security (TLS) feature to the licensing document verification system. The technologies
used in the research are QR code and digital signature for the speed of access and security
of licensing documents, and TLS to ensure safe communication during the process
verification. QR code that is included in licensing document, contains the serial number
and an access code that serves as an access key to the permission data stored in the system
and then the data signed using a digital signature. The licensing document authenticity can
be verified using mobile application and web page. To secure communication session
between the verification application with the system, TLS is applied on the server so that
all communication session is encrypted. The result of this research, licensing documents
that have QR code is harder to forget and can be verified quickly, moreover, TLS complete
the service by encrypting all communication session thus the communication session is
more secure.
According to Goyal, S. et.al (2016), This research paper concentrates on the concept
of Digital Authentication using QR Code in Digital Education System. This paper aimed to
provide a better solution to the Digital Security. There are two challenges of the work i.e. first
one is to explore the usability of QR Code in general life and second is to incorporate QR Code
technology with an educational document for security to avoid duplicity. The literature review
is done to synthesis digital encoding and decoding technique as well as basics of Bar Code and
QR Code. The implementation of QRC (Quick Response Code) for verification is presented
where web environment, programming logics, and URL embedding are discussed. The result
analysis and testing of experiment are done in the sense to get best quality of QR Code though
the information embedded should not affected and the QR Code must easily be decoded the
embedded information from common tools. The goal of this research paper is to explore and
analyze the best image under the testing of Error Correction Level and Matrix Point Size
parameters by calculating the PSNR and MSE values for QR Code images with different image
file format (PNG and JPG). The calculated values are compared and the final conclusion of the
work found which state that the PNG image with Error Correction Level-L and Matrix Point
Size 1 are the best to generate quality QR Code. The testing and result are presented which
state that the QR Code is the best way to compose the identical information of any entity to
quickly figure out the originality.
According to inettutor.com The QR code-based Attendance System with SMS
Notification will automate the recording of student’s attendance in school. The system will
collect the attendance of the students by QR codes. The students will scan the QR Codes during
the time in and out in school. The system will make a recording of attendance easy, fast,
convenient, and accurate.
CHAPTER III
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
This chapter presents the research design, research procedure, subjects of the study
and statistical treatment of data
Research Method
The Research Method will be used in this study is quantitative research.
Quantitative Research is a research method process gathering and interpreting
numerical data, it can be used to identify trends and averages, formulate hypothesis.
Examine causality and extrapolate findings to larger populations.
The objectivity data is one of its main advantages. Fewer variables and specific
numbers are used. This can aid in removing biases from the study and improve the
reliability on the results. Another advantage is that getting big sample sizes is frequently
simpler
The goal of quantitative research is to gain a deeper knowledge and comprehension
of society. Quantitative research produces objective data that can be clearly communicated
through statistics and numbers. Researchers use quantitative methods to observe situations
or events that have an impact on people. To enable others to duplicate the findings, we
conduct our work in a methodical, scientific manner.
Research Design
This research determined the Effectiveness of using QR Code in the ICT student's
parents’ identification in Maligaya National High School. The experimental method used
in this study.
An experiment is a technique carried out to assist or refute a hypothesis, or decide
the efficacy or probability of something beforehand untried. Experiments furnish
perception into cause-and-effect by using demonstrating what consequence takes place
when a unique element is manipulated.
We chose experimental research because it can be very advantageous in any field
of study and can provide results that reflect the cause and effects of the relationships.
Sampling Method
In this research, total population sampling method will be used.
Total population sampling is a type of purposive sampling technique that involves
examining the entire population that have a particular set of characteristics. It can eliminate
any potential bias occurring through sampling technique, but other than that it is really not
justified to consume more resources and time. The purpose of the total population pattern
is to lessen the capability for human bias with inside the choice of instances to be covered
with inside the pattern and to get deep insights into the phenomenon you are interested in
and have less complications.
The total population of MNHS SP-ICT class will be all the grade levels and take
100% people from each grade level to become respondents.
