They both want to try new things and are excited for what's to come. Red Leaf and Yellow Leaf see the beauty and difficulties that come with each change of season. They meet animals like mice, birds, and rabbits, which teach them important lessons about how to stay alive and how life works. When autumn comes, Yellow Leaf starts to turn different colors and gets ready to fall off the tree. Red Leaf, who is still full of life and energy, tries to get Yellow Leaf to stay and enjoy the rest of summer. Even though Red Leaf begs it not to, Yellow Leaf gives up and gently falls to the forest floor. Now that Red Leaf is on her own, she learns how important it is to accept change and how wise Yellow Leaf's choice was. When winter comes, snow covers the forest, and Red Leaf finally dies. But their friendship and the lessons they learned live on in the forest, telling other leaves of the cycle of life and how important it is to accept change. Lesson Learned: Through Red Leaf and Yellow Leaf's journey, we learn how important it is to accept change and go with the flow of life.
