OBJECTIVES
 To develop eye-hand coordination, evasion, running, safe tagging and agility
 In fact, a game of tag helps kids learn fundamental movement and sports skills that
can encourage them to stay active for life.
 Here are a few reasons why tag is great: It helps develop a variety of physical skills
including movement, agility, balance, coordination and spatial awareness.
DEMONSTRATION



. Demonstrate safe tagging:
o Light touch, like a butterfly wings, on the shoulder, upper arm or upper back.
o Unsafe tags: hard contact that might cause the person being tagged to fall.
Review what to do when you get tagged
Make sure players know where the care zone is and how to be fixed.

MATERIALS REQUIRED
 Designate a clear playing area using cones or sidewalk chalk to mark clear
boundaries.
 Designate a care zone outside the play area using visible boundaries.
 4 cones for the outside boundary &4 cones for the "hospital"
RULES OF THE GAME
 Ask for a volunteer to be "it". If a student is tagged, s/he must take one hand and put
it directly on the place where they were tagged. The hand is a "band aid".
 S/he can continue to run around and avoid being tagged but they must keep their
"band aid" on, now s/he only has one free hand. If s/he is tagged again, s/he must
take the other handed plan eit on the second spot where s/he tagged.
 S/he can still continue to run around with both "band aids" on. If s/he is tagged a
third time, s/he has to go to the "hospital" and do ten jumping jacks to get back in.
HOW TO PLAY





In this game, every player is it and can both tag others and be tagged.
If a player is tagged, that player must take one hand and put it directly on the place
where they were tagged. The hand is a bandage.
After being tagged once, players continue to run around, avoid being tagged and
attempt to tag others, but they must keep their bandage on and therefore only has
one free hand.
If a player is tagged again, they must take the other hand and place it on the second
spot where tagged. The player can still continue to run around with both bandage
on.
If any player is tagged a third time, they have to go to the care zone and do five
jumping jacks (or another per-determined action) to get back in.
HOW TO END THE GAME
Winner:
Let the game continue for as long as it remains exciting and fun. Switch the person who
is "IT" often.
