Describe your idea/Design/Problem Statement here:
The challenge is to provide an effective and robust approach to detect and classify metal defects
using computer vision and machine learning.
Image preprocessing techniques such as filtering and extracting the features from the image is a
good training model solution from which we can determine which type of defect the steel
plate has. This solution can even be used in real-time applications such as in industrial
machine inspection
The idea is to examine images of large steel objects which are impractical to be checked
manually by using this model we will be able to analyze damages like scratches, dents,
deformation etc

Important Points
❑ You must treat all team members, competitors, judges, coaches, volunteers, etc, with respect.
❑ Hackathon teams will be a maximum of 4 people
❑ All prizes are to be shared between all team members
❑ Teams should be made up of SRMIST students in School of Computing of any years 1, 2, 3 and final year.
❑ All team members should be present at the event.
❑ Teams can of course gain advice and support from organizers.
❑ Teams can use idea based on the defined problem given in Hackathon and have to be “innovative”.
❑ Teams can use libraries, frameworks, or open-source code and dataset.
❑ However, teams are allowed to debug and make small fixes to their programs.
❑ Teams can be qualified from the competition to the next level by their performance.
❑ Students will be eligible to claim 36 hours towards their participation in the Hackathon.
