This includes what has been officially planned and approved by the ministry, normally called the official or national curricula, that has all the intended or ideal learning opportunities. L Strategies 01 A thorough review of the curriculum is the first thing a multigrade teacher should do. Strategies Look for common themes or topics that are depicted from one 02 grade to the next in each subject and develop a chart identifying the main themes or topics. Some of the questions to consider in choosing a theme are: - What topics or themes can be used to introduce or develop your program? Some of the questions to consider in choosing a theme are: - What topics or themes can be taught together? What topics or themes need to be taught separately? The following should be taken into consideration: • • The pupil‘s different learning abilities across age and grades. The various levels of difficulties for the different grades. If work is too difficult or too easy, pupils may be distracted or discouraged. Important suggestions on multi-grade curriculum development, and/or modification. Clarify the overall goal, bearing in 01 mind the teacher‘s strengths and weaknesses, the needs of the community, the desires of the parents, and the requirements of the national curriculum. State the learning objectives, 02 i.e. what the students will be able to do upon completion of each stage. 03 List the topics and sub-topics. Outline the overall strategy, 04 and methods of teaching that will be used. Identify the resources such as textbooks, instruments, 05 etc. Describe the methods that will be used to measure 06 achievement. 07 Develop materials such as exercises, tests, etc. Thank you!
