“HCM City has few places for children to read. Public libraries21 often lack22 reading
materials meant23 for them. We hope our reading area will be completed24 and
attract25 children and their parents, who often park themselves in the zoo for the whole
day,” said Mai Khắc Trung Trực, director26 of the zoo’s Animal Factory.
The Sài Gòn Zoo and Botanical Garden, located27 in Nguyễn Bỉnh Khiêm Street in
District 1, was established28 in 1895 and is the country’s largest zoo and botanical

CẢM NHẬN: Sài
Gòn Zoo offers reading space for children
It's great to see the Saigon Zoo and Botanical Garden partnering with Trẻ Publishing
House to create a "Reading Space for Children" this summer. It's important to
encourage reading habits in children, especially in areas where public libraries may
lack age-appropriate materials. The inclusion of books, comics, and magazines that
focus on natural history, plants, and animals is a great way to get children interested in
science and the environment. The zoo's summer activities, such as painting clubs,
games, and sports contests, will also provide a fun and educational experience for
young visitors. Overall, this is a wonderful initiative that will hopefully attract more
families to the zoo and promote a love of reading among children.
