 Finding the area of Parallelogram
What formula can we use to find the area of parallelogram?

Setting of Classroom Standards
A. Review previous lesson or
presenting the new lesson

Good morning Lord Jesus smile on us today
Give us your blessings us we work and play Amen.
Good morning teacher John Rey, Good morning teacher
Remark, Good morning classmates, Good morning everyone.

What if, the base is unknown? What shall we do? How we can write the 
formula?

How about the height is unknown?
A=bxh
b= A
h
h= A
b
The teacher gives a problem
The area of parallelogram is equal 54m2 and the base is 6m and the
height is unknown. What is the height of Parallelogram?
h=?
b = 6m

To find the height of Parallelogram we use the formula;
h = A/b
= 54m2/6m
= 9m2
In finding a height of Parallelogram the formula that we are going to use is
h = A/b to get the height of Parallelogram:
h = A/b
= 54m2/6m
= 9m2
1,2,3 (clap) 1,2,3 (tramp) ngeng-ngeng, pepep, good job!
Let us give ourselves a driver’s clap.
Drill:
I have here a flash card, every time that I’m going to flash the card you
solve the problem and give me the answer.
1. 8 x 9 = ?
2. 5 x 6 = ?
3. 64 / 8 = ?
4. 81 / 9 = ?
5. 8 x 4 / 2 = ?
The student participates in drill.
1. 8 x 9 = 72
2. 5 x 6 = 30
3. 64 / 8 = 8
4. 81 / 9 = 9
5. 8 x 4 / 2 = 16
Answer:
1. 8 x 9 = 72
2. 5 x 6 = 30
3. 64 / 8 = 8
4. 81 / 9 = 9
5. 8 x 4 / 2 = 16

Who among you had a friend or relatives named Maris?
Okay, so now I will present to you a situation. All together read the
situation.
Me, Sir.
Maris has a flower garden. The garden is triangular in shape. The base
is 8 meters, and the height is 6 meters. What is the area of the garden?

D. Discussing new concepts
and practicing new skills # 1

And now, let’s discuss on how to find the area of a Triangle, when we say
Area, what are the square units to find the measure of an area?
The shape of Maris flower garden is triangular
(one from the class answered)
1,2,3 (clap) 1,2,3 (stamp), very good 3x.

The base of Maris flower garden is 8 meters.
(one from the class answered)
1,2,3 (clap) 1,2,3 (stamp), very good 3x.

The height of Maris flower garden is 6 meters.
(one from the class answered)
1,2,3 (clap) 1,2,3 (stamp), very good 3x

The area of Maris flower garden, Sir.
(one from the class answered)
1,2,3 (clap) 1,2,3 (stamp), very good 3x

The square units to find the measure of an area are m2, cm2,
in2.
Very good!
And to find the area of a Triangle the formula that we are going to use is
Area equals to base times height divided by two (A = b x h / 2).
And now, we already know how to find the Area of a Triangle. Let us help
Maris to solved her problem to find the area of her flower garden.

So again what is the base of Maris flower garden?
The base of Maris flower garden is 8 meters Sir.
Yes, very good! our base is 8 meters.
So we have a b = 8m
And how about the height of Maris flower garden?

The height of Maris flower garden is 6 meters Sir.

Sir yes sir!
Very good!
The h = 6m
The question is find the area of Maris flower garden.
So we are going to solve:
b = 8m
h = 6m
A=?
A=bxh/2
A = 8m x 6m / 2
A = 48m2 / 2
A = 12m2
Therefore: The Area of Maris flower garden is 12 m2.
To find the height of a triangle we use this formula:
h=2A/b
h = (2)12m2 / 8m
h =48 m2 / 8m
h = 6m
Therefore: the height of Maris flower garden is 6m.
And also to find the base of a triangle we use this formula:
b=2A/h
b = (2) 12m2 / 6m
b = 48m2 / 6m
b = 8m
Therefore: the base of Maris flower garden is 8m.
Did you understand already class how to get the Area, height, and base?
E. Discussing new concepts
and practicing new skills # 2
Let us solve the following problem.
1. Find the area of a triangle?
A=?
h=12cm
b = 8cm
2. h = 2cm
b = 8cm
A=?
A=bxh/2
= 8cm x 2cm / 2
= 16cm2 / 2
A = 8cm2
h = 2cm
b = 8cm
A=?
A=bxh/2
A = 8cm x 2cm / 2
= 16cm2 / 2
= 8cm2
Therefore: the area of a triangle is 8cm2
2. Find the height of a triangle?
3. h = ?
b = 4in
A = 12in2
h =?
A = 12 in2
b =4 in
h=?
b = 4in
A = 12in2
h = 2A / b
= (2)12in2 / 4in
= 24in2 / 4in
h = 6in
Therefore: the height of a triangle is 6in
h = 2A / b
=(2)12in2 / 4in
= 24in2 / 4in
= 6in
Therefore: the height of a triangle is 6in
3. Find the base of a triangle?
b=?
h = 16 ft
A=
h = 16ft
b=?
A = 96ft2
4. h = 16ft
b=?
A = 96ft2
96ft2
b = 2A / h
= (2) 96ft2 / 16ft
= 192 ft2 / 16ft
b = 12ft
Therefore; the base of a triangle is 12ft
b = 2A / h
= (2) 96ft2 / 16ft
= 192 ft2 / 16ft
b = 12ft
Therefore; the base of a triangle is 12ft
4. Find the height of a triangle?
5. h = ?
b = 15yd
A = 150 yd2
h=?
A = 150 yd2
b = 15 yd
h=?
b = 15yd
A = 150 yd2
h = 2A / b
= (2) 150yd2 / 15yd
= 300yd2 / 15yd
= 20yd
Therefore: the height of a triangle is 20yd
h = 2A / b
= (2) 150yd2 / 15yd
= 300yd2 / 15yd
= 20yd
Therefore: the height of a triangle is 20yd
5. Find the area of a triangle
b = 6m
h = 12m
6. h = 12m
b = 6m
A=?
A=?
A=bxh/2
= 6m x 12m / 2
= 72m2 / 2
= 36m2
Therefore: the area of a triangle is 36m2
1. h = 12m
b = 6m
A=?
F. Developing Mastery
A=bxh/2
= 6m x 12m / 2
= 72m2 / 2
= 36m2
Therefore: the area of a triangle is 36m2
