Background of the Project
Mindanao State University - General Santos City has a lot of facilities such as college buildings,
laboratories, and offices. However, being quite a huge university, it lacks a facility that is able
to accommodate a number of guests and VIPs coming from all across the country. With that
matter in mind, the client consulted Deka Myala to design a university hotel that would serve
as another one of the university’s landmark, as well as a facility where visitors would be able to
relax.
The university hotel is to have seven (7) floors and a roof deck. The designers were given the
freedom to choose their preferred land area and facilities to include in the design of the hotel,
as long as it is kept under safety standards.

Project Description and Objectives
The university hotel design proposed by Deka Myala is a 7-storey building which draws inspiration
from twisting high-rise buildings which are often seen in modern architecture. the building
shall be located near the back gate and along the roads toward the university gymnasium and
administration office. The main objectives of this building are the following:
1. Use the land in the site wisely, more or less 9, 000 sq. m. lot area.
2. Provide a place for visitors and VIPs to stay.
3. Provide another university landmark and increase its appeal.
4. Provide an easier place for students, teachers, and others to buy necessities.

Facilities and Specifications
The following are the facilities, and their specifications, included in the design of the university
hotel.
3.1
Front Desk
The Front Desk is to be utilized to welcome and assist hotel guests with their luggage, rooms
and room numbers, and to accommodate queries and requests in an efficient, courteous, and
professional manner to achieve maximum guest satisfaction.

Hotel Rooms
There are five room type based on area, namely the Standard Room, which includes a single
bed and a comfort room; the Deluxe Room and Premiere Room, which includes two queen
size bed; the Executive Room, which includes a bed area, a living, and a dining room; Lastly,
the Presidential Suite, which covers half of the highest floor.
3.3
Restaurants and Cafeteria
The on-site restaurant and cafeteria of the hotel allow for guests to dine in the restaurant
without having to drive or find ample parking. Guests can easily order food to be delivered at
their room doors, or come down to the first floor of the building.
3.4
Conference Room and Function Halls
The university hotel also provides a room for private meetings for a comfortable professional setting. Conference rooms are designed to be spacious to ensure quality accommodation. Function
halls are also available for university events.
