yo whats up G,
Intro
I’m glad yOu are able to get your hands on this book. This book is gonna
break down everything you need to know to be able to record vocals
anywhere you want. Im gonna go over with you how to maximize the
room you are recording in. from a home studio to hotel even an Airbnb,
these methods will work. Shoot you will even be able to record in a car
or anywhere outside if you want, as long as there isn’t too much
background noise. I'm also gonna tell you what equipment you will need
to get amazing quality vocals and how to actually connect it so you
wont have any issues. I’ll be showing you two different set ups you can
use to record quality vocals. After I’m gonna show you some tricks on
how to get the most out of your computer/laptop so your DAW runs
smoothly, as well as what levels to be recording at so you get amazing
clean dry crispy vocals. I’m also gonna be showing you some tips you can
implement right away to not get any lag when recording and make sure
everything is on time; as well as how to set up your Daw so everything is
routed correctly and you can save cpu. I’m also gonna express to you
one of the most important and over looked steps when recording, which
is the actual recording and how it all goes down to the artist to make
the performance amazing. This will allow the fans to be able to feel your
emotion and why that is so important. Lastly I’m gonna show you some
pre-mixing tips you should do before the actual mixing so everything
ruins smoothly and effortlessly, even if you are planing on sending the
song out to an engineer they will greatly appreciate you and will put
more effort in mixing just because you did these simple steps.
Lets get into it G, but first let me tell you a little about who I am...
Who Is David the Crook
Before I show you how to record vocals anywhere, I want to tell you a little bit about who I
am and why I am someone who can share this knowledge and tips with you. As of now 2021 I
am 24 Years Old & I go by David the Crook. I've been Recording, Mixing & Mastering as well as
Producing for Artists for almost 7 Years. Ive worked with countless artist all around the
world starting from where Im from in California; like Sacramento, the Bay Area, Central
Valley, Los Angeles, San Diego & everywhere In between. Up to Las Vegas Nevada, Arizona,
Texas, Colorado, Oklahoma, Mid-east (Southern States), Florida, Pennsylvania, New York., etc.
I have Pretty Much worked with different artists/ Genres all across America as well as
Canada. Across the world throughout Europe like United Kingdom, Germany, Norway,
Netherlands. Parts of Africa Like South Africa. throughout Asia, India, Indonesia, Philippines
& lastly Australia. as you can tell I've pretty much put my hands on songs all throughout
the world.
People ask me all the time why I chose the name David the Crook, obviously my real name Is
David but I added Crook to It because a Crook Is someone who takes things that is not theirs.
Growing up, from an early age I realized one thing: nothing In life In is guaranteed or given
to you. all my family comes from Mexico but I am a first Generation Mexican American, I had
the blessing to be born In the US. Growing up I didn’t really have much when It came to
having clothes, shoes, money and other materialistic things that i wanted or like other
people did. I always wondered why I couldn’t have the things I wanted and why my parents
always said they never had money. Honestly I couldn’t stand It, so from an early age I always
told myself I never want to be poor. Im not guarantied anything In this world, no one Is
gonna come and save me so Im gonna take what I want, It Is all out there you just got to go
take It. Im not talking about going and hurting people and stealing from them. Im talking
about being a crook and realizing that everything In life Is out there for the taking, If you
don’t go out to get It guess what? someone else will! so It might as well be you, do what you
got to do to come out on top to be the best you can be In every area so you can take anything
& everything you want and no one will ever be able to tell you what to do.
Maximizing Your Recording Environment
CHAPTER 1
First thing that needs to be done before even getting to the actual recording of
the song is making sure the room being recorded in is treated. This can be done
with sound insulation, home made Panels, or some you buy online. The way I did it
was I created my own custom panels to fit my home studio using Safe 'n' Sound 3
in. x 15-1/4 in. x 47 in. Soundproofing Stone Wool Insulation with 2 x 4 studs
wrapped with fabric to create a wall within the room. or you can make smaller
panels and place them throughout your home studio to help tame the natural
room reverb. Once you create the panels you’ll want to cover it with a thin
fabric, make sure it's not thick or it won’t let the sound pass through to get
absorbed.
Adding sound proof panels is gonna help absorb the noise from the vocals from
bouncing off the walls and into the mic causing Phasing issues and unwanted
back ground noise. the goal is to get the best sounding dry recording. Recording
in a treated room is very important. the only way around it, to some extent
would be using a mic Eyeball over the Mic but that would bring its own problems.
plus when it comes to the mixing you’ll need to mix only on headphones because if
the room isn’t treated you will not truly hear how everything actually sounds. If
you are gonna have a home studio i would recommended you to invest into
building or buying some panels. If you are recording in a hotel or air-bnb you
won’t have this so i would recommended getting a Mic Eye Ball, I'll detail more
about that in the next chapter. But first you want to make sure your recording
room is treated if you can, this will solve so many problems and allow you to get
clean dry vocal recording takes.
Step one Treat the Studio or invest into Mic Eyeball, If you can do both. i will
recommend you do both!
Connecting Your Equipment Like a Pro &
Finding the Best Equipment For You
CHAPTER 2
After the room is treated, make sure all your equipment is connected and running smoothly.
by this I mean your XLR cables are working good, there is no static and your able to get
signal into your computer from your Mic to XLR cable into the Audio Interface into a
Computer/Laptop. that is the basic set up that most people have and will work great. If you
have introduced compressors or other hardware like Pre-amps, Reverb, EQ, Etc.. make sure
your recording chain is working and there isn’t any unwanted noise being added onto the
vocals.
There are two basic setups you can have to record a song. the most basic and budget friendly
set up you can have is a USB Mic plugged straight into your computer or Laptop. this isn’t the
idea set up you will want but it’ll do and get the job done. this is for someone who Is just
starting out and wants to see If they want to do this or someone who doesn’t have the funds
to invest into proper equipment right away and just wants to start recording. If this is
your set up you might run into some issues like not having the best quality compared to
songs recorded on an XLR Mic. Also when it comes to the mixing you’ll need to do a bit more
work and processing to make the vocals sound as professional as they can
The second set up uses a bit more equipment and is more of an investment but trust me it’ll
be worth it and you’ll be able to record professional songs anywhere. this way will be best
case to get the job done with good quality. to get this set up you’ll need first an XLR Mic,
there are plenty of microphones out their that all sound amazing especially some that are
right for your budget. Don’t waste too much time worrying about what mic to get, just look
at your budget and get a microphone that you can get. When I first started out, my mic was a
Rode NT1-A I got that mic because it is budget friendly and it had great reviews when it came
to recording rap songs. After you have your mic, you will need an XLR Cable (any will do), you
can probably get one with the mic if you purchase a bundle.
Next you will need to connect your XLR cable to your Audio Interface, Just like the Mic there
are plenty of Audio interfaces out there that have one Channel, Two Channels, etc.. Just
Chose one that’s within your budget, preferably get a two Channel Audio Interface even if
you are only gonna use one channel to record vocals. it comes in handy to have a second
channel just in case someday you want to record two vocals at once or plug in an
instrument and record vocals at the same time.
CH. 2 -

When I was first starting off I invested in a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 USB Audio Interface. this
is a great audio interface to capture vocals and I never had any problems with it. matter of
fact I still use it when I travel because its small and doesn’t take up too much space and
works just by connecting it straight into your computer/Laptop USB Port. Of course you’re
gonna need some kind of computer or laptop with a DAW to record, preferably something
that has 8GB of Ram or more.
After this you’ll need a mic stand to place your mic onto, there are plenty of mic stands
some with back shields others without. I'll recommend getting a mic stand that comes with
a pop filter and back shield, since those two things will really help you get professional
quality vocals to tame the pops and make sure the vocals are dry as they can be.
lastly you’ll need some headphones to connect into your audio interface to be able to hear
the beat that is coming out of your DAW. Just like the Mic and Audio interface there are
plenty of mics but the only difference is the headphones you choSE WHICH actually make a
difference. You want to chose headphones that are “Flat” and dO NOT boost frequencies as
much. of course you can record with beats by Dre headphones like they show in videos but
it won’t really be that useful when it comes to the mixing part of your song, since
headphones like that are created with an EQ boost that carve & boost certain Frequencies
so every song at least sounds good. You want to record using Headphones that are flat so
you can truly hear the sound and also use them to mix your songs so they translate well in
all places and devices. The headphones I started off with and still use till this day are
called Status Audio CB-1 Closed Back Studio Monitor Headphones. I’m on my 3rd par since I
just love them so much to record and mix music. they are also very budget friendly. But
like I said, you just need to get headphones that are flat, audio technica headphones work
amazing as well.
when It comes to speakers they become optional, you do need them If you are In a home
studio for many reasons like mixing, hearing low end and getting a better overall feeling
of the song. as welL, If your In the studio with multiple people everyone can hear It to
create a vibe. If you are traveling you wont have them, Im not really touching on speakers
because they aren't necessary when It comes to the actual part of recording vocals only
headphones are necessary.
That is all the equipment you need to be able to record a song in your home studio or
anywhere you want like a hotel or AirBnb.

Once you have all your equipment set up there Is a correct way for turning It on & off. for
example, If you have the set up mentioned above with YOUR Mic, usb Audio Interface, &
computer. you'll want to start with your computer/Laptop, once that Is on your usb Interface
should turn on also. If you have an 8 channel audio Interface that connects to an outlet &
has an on & off switch then turn that on next. after If you have speakers TURN THEM ON. once
you have the main equipment on & the Mic connected to the XLR Cables Into the Audio
Interface, you will need to start up your daw/ open recording template. after you will see
your audio Interface +48V phantom power PRESS THE BUTTON TO turn that on and your mic will
start to work. make sure youR gain Is lowered all the way, then you can Increase your gain to
get a strong healthy signal Into your daw. If you don't see signal going Into your daw check
IN your computer/laptop settingS that the Input & output are routed to the audio Interface
then check your daw setting that your Input & output device Is the audio Interface. once you
have a good signal (more on perfecting the best recording levels In next chapter) you can
start recording. when Its time to turn everything off you will need to do the same process
but backwards.
CH. 2 -

start by lowering the gain on your audio Interface to turn off the +48V phantom power
then turn off speakers If you have them ON. If not, you can proceed to turn off your audio
Interface If you have an on & off switch. If yourS connects & startS onto your computer
without a switch you can then turn off your computer/laptop or disconnect the audio
Interface. If you'rE still planning on using your computer/laptop you can always use It
with the audio Interface connected, just remember all the audio will be coming out of
your headphones. If you want the audio out of your computer/laptop speakers you will
need to disconnect It or change the settings.
the reason you want to use that process Is due to the fact that: power Is running through
your equipment, If you turn the +48V phantom power with the gain turned up you will
hear a pop and that can mess up your mic & speakers. If you turn off your audio Interface
before +48V phantom power or speakers you will cut the signal and can make your
equipment overload and blow a fuse.
1 - USB Audio Interface connect to Laptop
2 - +48V phantom power on
3 - Increases gain and headphone volume
THERE WAS A LOT IF INFORMATION GIVEN TO YOU ALONG WITH DIFFERENT EQUIPMENT TO INVEST IN & LOOK INTO.

Like I said in the last chapter: a Mic Eye Ball works amazing especially in places where the room
your recording in isn’t treated and for traveling, so if you have the budget to invest in one i'll
recommended you do. you can look into the The Kaotica Eyeball or get a knock off Version off Ebay for a lower Price like I did. I actually recorded a whole Mix tape In an AirBnb using a setup
LIKE this and a Mic EyeBall. Once you have the knowledge on what and how to do It, anything Is
possible.
HERE ARE SOME Tips when setting up YOUR Mic: first you don’t want to PLACE IT in a Corner of the
room nor in the middle of the Room. if the room is a square those are bad spots because the
vocals are gonna be bouncing off the Walls and back into the mic causing phasing and echo in
the vocal recording. when it comes to recording vocals the goal is to get nice clean dry vocal
takes, so avoid recording in corners and in the middle of the room.

Also when you set up your mic a tip you can do if you know you have harsh “S”s is actually
turn the Mic about 15 degrees to the left or to the right. I do this to artist who have sharp
“S”s to avoid capturing those frequencies and you can still get a great sounding vocal take
without the harsh frequencies.
When setting up a pop filter don't let the pop filter touch the mic, keep about 3 Inches from
the mic and 6 Inches from the artist mouth, a good method to DO Is to turn your hand with
your thumb up place the palm of your hand on your chin and the end of your finger tips on
the pop filter that is about 6 inches. thats how far away you should be from the mic so the
mic can capture everything clear. if you are too close you'll end up getting a bad take that
is too loud and if you are too far away from the mic the vocal recording will be too low
and It'll give room for the bounce back to enter the mic
1. Normal Mic set up
2. Mic turned about 15 degrees
3. pop filter about 6 Inch away from mic
Perfecting your daw
CHAPTER 3
Now that you have all your equipment set up and running. the next thing you want to do
when it comes into maximizing your DAW to record vocals, is you want to go within youR
settingS of your DAW and change your I/O Buffer Size. In the last chapter I mentioned you
want a computer or laptop with at least 8 GB Ram or more so everything can run smoothly.
One thing that will help is changing the buffer size when youR actually going to record the
vocals, the lower you go the better. I record at 62 or 32 Buffer Size and when I finish
recording and I'm gonna start Mixing I change it to 1023 Buffer Size. What the Buffer Size
does IS, it allows your Computer or Laptop the time process what IS HAPPENING. so when you
record you want it low at 62 or 32 so it doesn’t lag on capturing your vocals. If you record
at 1023 it’ll take a while to capture your VOCALS because your Computer or Laptop will take
longer to processes the recording going Into It. that will cause your vocals to sound a bIt
off and not on time, so you want to eliminate as much as you can so everything is on time.
When it comes to mixing you want to increases it so it can load and process all the plug-ins
and give your computer or Laptop enough time to load and make its changes as you mix. With
8GB of Ram You’ll be able to capture and Mix all in one project without any problems as
long as you don’t over do it with the plug-ins. i'll show you a way on how you won’t have to
worry about that when it comes to setting up your DAW Template. after you will want to
export your final mix and create a new template to master the song. you don't want to mix
and master In the same project due to many different reasons. one of them being Is It could
take up too much CPU and cause your DAW to Crash when you try to reload up the project.
It'll take too long to load up, another thing Is the mindset you use when you master Is
different from when you mix and the way you go about that Is a lot different. just to be
safe record and mix on one project file & export and master on a new project file.
1. I/o Buffer size for recording
2. I/o Buffer size for Mixing
CH. 3 - perfecting your daw
CONTINUED
When it comes to capturing the vocal signal a big mistake I see artist who record themselves or
beginner engineers make is recoding the vocals too loud. there isn’t an exact level you need to
record at but a good measure is to make sure THE loudest parts are not going over -9db in your
DAW Meter average you should aim to hit -15 or -12 thats a good sweet spot. there is a lot of
different opinions when it comes to vocal capturing levels and how it matters with certain
plug-ins. like how it maximizes plug-ins that model actual hardware and how It works best
when the vocals are around -12DB others say it doesn’t matter but in general to be safe. I
record at -15 DB and the Loudest parts around -9DB.
A big reason why many people record vocals too loud is because they can’t hear it when they play it
back, honestly that is due to the beat being too loud. if you are getting beats off YouTube, one thing
you want to know is the beat is mastered and its pushed to its limit so its gonna be way too loud.
what you want to do is lower the beat about -6DB where it averages -6DB. You can go lower it , BUT IT
all depends on the beat and how it was mixed but -6Db is good to start. to be completely honest IF
you ARE using mastered beats IT wont allow you to have the best quality sounding song due to the
fact that the beat has been pushed to its limit and all the dynamics have been squished. if you can
get your hands on the mixed version of the beat that doesn't have a limiter that will allow your
song to be a lot better quality and more dynamic.
Beat off Youtube going pass 0-db
makes It harder to mix & hear the
vocals
CH. 3 - perfecting your daw
CONTINUED
making sure the beat is around -6dB will allow you to hear what you are recording and not
have to over do it in the gain. that will cause distortion and clipping on the vocals because
once you distort or clip the vocals you can’t undo it and you’ll BE wastING time to record
it. You want to make sure everything runs smooth In getting the best sounding recording
the first time. like I mentioned before something you can do to speed up work flow is use a
Recording Template where everything is routed exactly where it needS to go. One way I do
THIS Is: route the beat to Bus 1, Main Vocals to Bus 2, Dubs to Bus 3, Ad-libs to Bus 4. then get
all the vocal Bus [Main Vocals Dubs, Ad-libs] and route them to another bus called ‘All
Vocals’ and route the Beat bus and All Vocals to a ‘Sub Mix’ Bus. that way if you need to
lower the beat or all the vocals you can just lower one fader and not 3+. There are plenty
of ways you can set up your template, it honestly always changes. the more you use it, the
more you’ll find things you can change and improve on. I’m always changing up my
recording templates and plug-ins I use, to make sure everything runs smoothly and better.
Create your own Template and see what you always do and just keep updating it, there isn’t
a perfect template. once you keep using it you’ll have an amazing template that works for
you and It'll speed up your workflow.
Lower Beat Gain -6 db now the loudest parts are hitting about -6db
so vocals are heard clear and It'll be easier to mix
capturing the emotion In the vocals
CHAPTER 4
Now that you have your equipment set up & running perfectly into your DAW with good
levels and a Low I/O Buffer Size it Is finally time to capture your vocals. This is a big step
that artist don’t really take time to think about how Important It Is and skip especially
beginner artist. this Is honestly what Is gonna separate the pros and the amateurs, this is
what can make or break the song. As an artist you want to express yourself and let your
fans feel and hear your emotions with confidence. I’ve recorded many artist where they
don’t speak up or they get nervous and shy and that translates into the song to the point
they no longer like it and as an engineer/producer I don't have the excitement or energy
to actually want to put my all into that song. Recording a song is Art and you want to
make sure you are expressing yourself to the vibe of the song. If It Is a sad song allow
them to feel the hurt, If It Is an exciting party song give off that energy and so fourth.
There is only so much that can be done when It's time to mixing the vocals even a pro
engineer can only do so much to make the song sound good but it all comes down to
artist to preform the song to make the listener feel the vocals.
Don’t be shy or nervous, no one in the studio is judging you. We all came together for one
purpose and thats to make amazing sounding music. If anything they are on your side
rooting for you to make a great songs because no one wants to put their hands on a bad
song. on the other hand everyone wants to help create a great song but It all starts with
the artist It doesn't matter of the feel of the song If Its sad, happy, angry, prideful,
motivating etc.. as the artist you are drawing the people around In to see the vision you
have for the song. know that what you are saying has the Impact to touch & even change
peoples lives.
CH. 4 - capturing the emotion In the vocals
CONTINUED
If you are in a room with an engineer or producer ask for tips. ask them
what they think and not to sugar coat it on how you can do better. They
probably know something, have the experience or hear something you don’t.
Don’t be ashamed but be truthful with yourself that you can make the best
song possible and there is room for improvement, everyone has their flaws.
Every time an artist asks me what I think, I am honest with them because I
want them to do their best and if they aren’t expressing themselves and
rapping quietly I want them to know that, and that they can change It and
it’ll make the song come out even better. Like I’ve said capturing the vocals
is probably one of, if not the most important part of the song. This is what
is gonna separate amazing songs and amateur songs. People can tell and feel
music so you want them to feel the vibe of the song. If you get nice clean dry
emotional vocals then that already is more than half of the work. The
mixing is only gonna add and emphasize the vocals but if they aren’t good it
won’t make a difference. If you don't know anyone or don't feel comfortable
feel free to shoot me a message through email or Ig, Im always down to give
feedback and check out your music (all Info at the end with spacial bonus).
pre-mixing
CHAPTER 5
Once all the vocals are captured and there is multiple vocal takes, it's time for the
premixing. This is something you do before you even get the actual mixing of the vocals.
In this process you have to go through each take of the vocals, dubs, ad-libs etc. and
choose the best sounding takes. you have to making sure each take Is flowing together.
Some artist like to have the breathes cut out or lowering them down so its not too
noticeable.
It also Includes, cutting out dead space and creating space by panning certain vocal
takes left and right like the dubs & ad-libs so when its time to actually mix everything is
exactly where it needs to be. Premixing is often overlooked but taking the time to clean
up the project makes a huge difference and doesn’t make mixing over-welling.
Original Raw Dub Take
Dubs after cut & panned left/Right
Figure out if you want to add drops or have things moving left and right and
getting a feel of the raw song over all. Even if you might not be 100% sure
trust the process that it will come out amazing. once you clean up the vocals
a bit and when the mixing is done it’ll be exactly how you heard the song in
your head.
CH. 5 -
PRE-MIXING
CONTINUED
a good method you can do while premixing Is simply adding a Quick EQ and
Compressor to balance out everything as well as add a bit more clarity to the song.
something I do when pre-mixing Is add an EQ like Waves SSLE Channel or a stock EQ, It
can be any to shape the vocals and cut out 100Hz Cut around 400-600 Hz for boxiness
and boost the Highs about 5db this will clean up the vocals a bit to be able to hear
the vocals better. then i add a compressor like waves RVox or any stock compressor
and compress the vocals 3db and add some gain to help the vocals cut through the
mix. this isn't gonna completely mix the vocals but It Is a good start to be able to
clearly hear everything while you go through the tracks cutting and choosing what
you want .

PRE-MIXING

after you have all the tracks you want pan dubs. ad-libs left and right Its time to add a
fade onto the tracks that Is gonna help get rid of any pops and cracks that can happen
when the song Is playing and a vocal track comes to play. It also helps when two track
play right after another to make It sound like one and play smoothly
there have been plenty of times the artist is hearing the raw dry recording and they
don’t like it because it doesn’t sound good but once the pre-mixing is done everything is
panned where it needs to be there are faded in the breaks and I start mixing, thats when
they start to feel the song more. its always hard for artist to hear their own voice
especially dry without any effects & Plug-ins but once they trust the process and It
slowly starts coming together In the mixing phase they get excited on how Its coming
out.
Fade In/out on every track to stop
pops & flow a lot cleaner especially
on over laps
Fade for clean transition
One thing to understand is that recording a song is a process and it starts before you
actually record the vocals. It starts by making sure everything runs smoothly effortlessly
and you can completely emerge yourself in the song to create a timeless masterpiece
anywhere you want. Now that you have all the information and knowledge to be able to
record and capture your vocals anywhere you want. If you want to send off the track stems
to an engineer or mix the song yourself its completely up to you but at least the majority of
the process is done. If you decide to send the song off to an engineer like myself:
David_the_Crook or anyone you chose too we will be able to work with your vocals smoothly
and will greatly appreciate the pre-mixing you did by cutting out breathes and unwanted
noises in dead spots. If you are mixing the vocals yourself you don’t need to worry about how
it sound you can change your mindset into a mind set of being creative to mix the vocals and
be able to blend them into the beat to overall create one amazing sounding song.
exporting & Sending
BONUS CHAPTER
Now that you have your song recorded and Pre-Mixed Its finally time to get to the mixing.
here you have two options like I mentioned In the last chapter. first you can mix the song
yourself and you can do that on the project file you used to record or if you decide to send
off your song to an engineer like myself (David the crook) or who ever you chose to mix
your song. you will need too send off 1. the project file or 2. the vocal stems with beat. i
Recommended If you know what daw the engineer Is using (ask them) and you are using the
same daw Its preferred to send the entire project file that way they open the project and
everything Is exactly where It needs to be. If that Is not the case then you'll need to export
the tracks Individually Into stems and send that over. one thing you want to keep In mind
Is when you export your tracks you want them all to be the same length that way when the
engineer downloads the files and Imports them Into a session everything Is lined up and
there Is no confusion as to what Is the hook, verse etc.
the First step to exporting your tracks Into stems and something I do Is bounce the track In
place so It becomes one audio file per track. meaning you highlight for example all the main
Vocals, Hook, Verse etc. & left click and look for Bounce in Place. Make sure you don't have
any plug-ins turned on and on the tracks. the goal Is to send the raw dry vocal recordings,
If you send the track & It has EQ or Compression on, the vocals will be sent with that and It
could harm the overall song. especially If the engineer doesn't know that It Is on the
recordings.

Important, once you got the folder you want to send the stems to. go to range and chose
"Extend file length to project end" that'll make sure everything Is the same length and It
captures everything. next, for the format you want to chose "wave" that Is the highest
quality so you know the tracks will be sent at their best. after the bit depth you want to
chose "24 bit". this Is optional but you can Include volume/pan automation If you added
some durning the pre-mixing. Finally on normalize you want to pick "overload
protection only" or "Off"
Once Its all Exported It'll be
In the folder you picked
Now everything Is ready to send
another thing I do to make sure
everything sent Is smoother Is, I
Zip & Compress the folder
Left click the folder and pick
compress then It'll give you another
file with the name of the folder +
zip. you'll want to send that file to
the engineer
BONUS CHAPTER -
EXPORTING & SENDING
CONTINUED
Once you send the Compressed file you are done, now It's time for the engineer to
do his/her work to give you the best song. on their end once they open the folder
with the stems you sent, all they have to do Is drag and drop Into their daw and
everything Is exactly where It needs to be. It'll look something like this labeled
and ready to start mixing.
trust me your engineer will appreciate you & will gladly work on your song
causing the song to be mixed & mastered better since you saved them the headache
of labeling, pre-mixing, finding where things go, etc.
also If you plan on mixing the song yourself: If you export and start a new
project file you can save multiple projects. that way If you ever need to go back
to record you wont worry about cpu. you can also just export the new tracks
and drop them Into the mixing project and It'll line up perfectly
