Homeostasis & Human Disease Research Essay
Project Requirements:
This essay is based on research you carry out on a disease of your choice. The
essay should be a minimum of 5 full paragraphs. You must use at least 3
scientific sources (not Wikipedia!) and the sources must be cited
at the end!
It is important to understand that in an informative essay, facts are clear
and the writing is concise and free of fillers:
o 1st Paragraph – Introduction
Explain the connection between homeostasis and disease. Definitions of
each should be embedded in your explanation.
o 2nd Paragraph –
A description of the disease and how it is caused. Include organs
and/or systems involved.
o 3rd & 4th Paragraph –
Explain how the disease affects the body’s ability to maintain
homeostasis. Included in these paragraphs how the symptoms that
appear are a result of this disruption. How does this affect the quality
of life for those who have it.
o 5th Paragraph – Conclusion:
Summarize the main points presented in your essay. No new ideas or
thoughts should be presented. You are closing your essay. Be brief and
to the point.
