Economy is the basis of life specially in these current times. It affects our way of living, the quality of our lives, the way we interact within our communities and it also shapes the future for us and for the generations to come. As an industrial engineer student, I’m focusing on gaining as much knowledge and experience about how everything works. Industrial engineers are basically system thinkers which enables us to think differently than others through learning a variety of methods, techniques, skills and having strong communication skills. Living in Jordan is challenging mainly due to the economy that is affected by an array of factors for example the large number of refugees that Jordan and the Jordanians happily host. The Jordanian economy needs sustainable, effective and efficient planning, execution, control and continuous evaluation and improvement. Through participating in this program and learning about the US economy I will acquire all the skills, knowledge, methods, tools and techniques that are being applied by the US which is the world leading economic power and in return will help me apply the concepts used in the US in Jordan, The other vital part of this program that I’m really excited about is leadership which is a topic that is barely touched upon in Jordan. Leadership is all about guiding, helping and directing people and communities toward growth, prosperity, and peace.
