MALWARE AND ITS TYPES
1. Malware stands for “malicious software”.
2. It is designed to gain access or installed into the computer without the consent of the user.
3. Malware is a file or code, typically delivered over a network that infects, explores virtuality
any behavior an attacker wants
4. Malware is any computer software intended to harm the host operating system or to steal
5. Sensitive data from users, organisations or companies.
6. Malware may include software that gathers user information without permission.
DIFFERENT TYPES OF MALWARE ATTACKS
ADWARE: It is type of malware which is used for forced advertising.

These adware are financially supported by the organisations whose products are advertised.
SPYWARE:
 It is type of malware which is installed in the target computer with or without the
User permission and is designed to steal sensitive information from target machine.


It can act as keyloggers to sniff the banking passwords and sensitive information etc.
It can keep track of cookies of the host computer.
VIRUS: A virus is a malicious code written to damage/harm the host computer by delete or append a
file or slowdown the performance of computer or format the host machine etc.

It can spread through pen-drives, e-mails etc
WORMS: It is a type of attack which is different from virus without human intervention it can travel
through network.


Worms can spread through the e-mails or network using loopholes of the operating system
Replication and spreading of worm over the network consume the network resources like
Space and bandwidth and force the n\w to choke.
TROJAN HORSE: It is a malicious code that is installed in the host machine by pretending to be
useful software.



It become a part of botnet(robot-network).
The computers of botnet n/w which are infected by malicious code are known as ‘zombies’.
Those all networks are controlled by central controller
SCAREWARE: It is a type of malware attack that claims to have detected a virus or other issue on a
device and directs the user to download or buy malicious software to resolve the problem.
