Agenda: Refugees’ Access To Jobs and Financial Services Country: Somalia Committee: UNHCR Honorable chairs and esteemed delegates, I am honored to represent Somalia and address the pressing issue of refugees' access to jobs and financial services. As a nation that has endured decades of conflict, displacement, and insecurity, Somalia understands the challenges faced by refugees who seek safety and security in foreign lands. Therefore, we believe that providing refugees with access to employment and financial services is a critical issue that requires immediate attention from the international community. Somalia has hosted a significant number of refugees for many years, and we know firsthand the difficulties they face in finding job opportunities and accessing financial services. We believe that by providing refugees with access to education, skills training, and financial services, we can help them become self-reliant and contribute to the economic growth of the host country. As a nation, we are committed to working with the UNHCR, host countries, donor agencies, and private sector actors to develop inclusive policies that recognize the value of refugees and their potential contribution to society. We urge the international community to increase funding for programs that support the economic empowerment of refugees. Providing access to financial services such as microfinance and small loans can help refugees start businesses, create jobs, and contribute to the economy of the host country. In conclusion, Somalia stands ready to work with the international community to address the challenges faced by refugees in accessing jobs and financial services. It is not only a matter of human dignity but also a matter of social and economic development. We call on all member states to join us in our efforts to ensure that refugees can access the opportunities they need to rebuild their lives. Thank you.
