WORK and ENERGY

advertisement
WORK
• Work is done when the force is applied on an
object and the object covers a certain distance.
• Mathematically, Work equals force times
distance.
• W = Fd
• The unit for work is Newton meter (Nm) or
Joules (J)
Energy
• The capacity to do work.
• Mathematically, Energy is equal to mass times
gravity times height
• It takes energy to do work
• The energy of an object can never be zero.
Power
• The rate of doing work. It can also be defined as
the rate of change of energy.
• Mathematically, Power = Work done/time taken
• P = W/t
• It measures how fast energy is being used.
• An object can have value for the power without
doing any work.
