If your cut opens up, call your doctor. Resist the urge to scratch Watch for Signs of Infection INSTRUMENT TO BE USE & INDICATES OF EACH INSTRUMENT 1. Towel Clips The primary use of towel clips is to hold drapes in place, to keep the operating field exposed. 2. Mosquito Forceps Mosquito forceps are typically used to clamp off smaller vessels that control the flow of blood. Incorporate ratchet closure for added control. 3. Straight Scissors Straight blades are usually used for performing dissection at the surface of the wound, ligatures, tendons, ligaments, or fascia. They can also be used to cut sutures. 4. Mayo Scissors Mayo scissors are designed for cutting body tissue near the surface of a wound. As straight bladed Mayo scissors are used for cutting sutures, they are also referred to as "suture scissors" 5. Metzenbaum Metzenbaum scissors or “Metz” are used for fine dissection and cutting. They are most frequently slightly curved 6. The Senn Retractor The Senn Retractor is a handheld, double-ended retractor used to retract primarily surface tissue. 7. Needle Holder is used to hold a suturing needle during surgical procedures. 8. Adson Tissue Forcep Adson forceps are used for handling delicate tissue. They are regularly used in exploratory surgery for gently moving tissue or for holding it during the suturing process 9. Adson Thumb Adson forceps are equipped with fine, rat tooth tips that provide a gentle grasp of tissues. These forceps are freqently used in surgery to manipulate soft tissues such as fascia and skin during suturing.
