INSTRUMENT TO BE USE & INDICATES OF EACH INSTRUMENT
1. Towel Clips
The primary use of towel clips is to hold drapes in place, to keep the operating field exposed.
2. Mosquito Forceps
Mosquito forceps are typically used to clamp off smaller vessels that control the flow of
blood. Incorporate ratchet closure for added control.
3. Straight Scissors
Straight blades are usually used for performing dissection at the surface of the wound,
ligatures, tendons, ligaments, or fascia. They can also be used to cut sutures.
4. Mayo Scissors
Mayo scissors are designed for cutting body tissue near the surface of a wound. As
straight bladed Mayo scissors are used for cutting sutures, they are also referred to as "suture
scissors"
5. Metzenbaum
Metzenbaum scissors or “Metz” are used for fine dissection and cutting. They are most
frequently slightly curved
6. The Senn Retractor
The Senn Retractor is a handheld, double-ended retractor used to retract primarily surface
tissue.
7. Needle Holder
is used to hold a suturing needle during surgical procedures.
8. Adson Tissue Forcep
Adson forceps are used for handling delicate tissue. They are regularly used in
exploratory surgery for gently moving tissue or for holding it during the suturing process
9. Adson Thumb
Adson forceps are equipped with fine, rat tooth tips that provide a gentle grasp of tissues.
These forceps are freqently used in surgery to manipulate soft tissues such as fascia and skin
during suturing.
