Upon completion of this knowledge unit, you will be required to demonstrate knowledge in following a cutsheet that lists the steps for configuring
a wireless AP. This will require you to commit to memory the below 11-step cutsheet in no particular order when it comes to successful
configuration and installation of a wireless AP.
There will be a five-question quiz at the end of this unit where you must score 70% or better.

Configuring a Wireless Access Point
As a Cyber Transport Systems Apprentice in the United States Air Force, it is important that you be familiar with following a checklist when it
comes to configuring a wireless AP as there may be local standards that need to be adhered to. The deployment of wireless APs also requires
attention to detail regarding specific conditions and variables that could affect the overall effectiveness of its wireless coverage. Adherence to best
practices is beneficial in overcoming this.
The list that you will be required to know how to configure a wireless AP is as follows:
1. Ensure installation area is in an open area that avoids physical obstacles that could interfere with wireless coverage
2. Ensure cables used for the connection back to the wired computer network meet intended expectations and attenuation rate of the cable.
3. Ensure cables support both the required speed and required duplex.
4. Ensure POE supplied by the switch that the wireless AP will connect back to meets the wireless AP’s requirements.
5. Ensure Wi-Fi band frequency channel overlap is minimal with neighboring wireless APs and meets on base approved frequencies.
6. Ensure DHCP for the wireless AP is set correctly and meets user requirements as intended.
7. Ensure the switchport in which the wireless AP will connect to is documented and labeled.
8. Ensure the switchport in which the wireless AP will connect to is configured for the correct VLAN membership.
9. Ensure IPv4 or IPv6 address for the wireless AP is accurate and falls within the management VLAN for the wireless AP.
10. Ensure intended areas of the wireless computer network are reachable via ICMP and the command ping.
11. Ensure a backup of all configurations is accomplished before completing the installation
