CASE STUDY # 10: HE DOES, I DO The government officials and employees should adhere to the work schedule set by the Civil Service Commission to ensure that they are able to perform their duties effectively and efficiently. Being punctual to work is a professional habit that should be developed and maintained. Consistent tardiness can result in short-term penalties and long-term consequences. Additionally, policies and programs that promote work-life balance and high levels of employee satisfaction and engagement should be implemented to cultivate a positive work environment and improve overall performance. Roy, the rank and file employee, may have a different perspective. He may see Mr. Sanchez's tardiness as a sign of disrespect for the office's rules and regulations. He may also see it as a lack of dedication and commitment to the job, and may question Mr. Sanchez's leadership abilities. Additionally, Roy may feel that Mr. Sanchez's tardiness sets a bad example for the rest of the staff and can lead to a culture of lax punctuality in the office. Being a Director is a challenging role that necessitates a wide range of abilities and skills. The Director is accountable for leading and motivating a team, negotiating contracts with clients, and overseeing various aspects of customer service, such as recruitment and training. It's also important to remember that Roy's responsibilities may be more limited, but he should still be held accountable for delivering on his deliverables and meeting his job requirements. The roles and responsibilities of Roy and his Director are different and should not be compared or held to the same standards. For me the problem of tardiness is a complicated issue that emerges from both personal and organizational causes. Both the Director and Roy have their own reasons for being tardy, but it is ultimately their responsibility to take charge of their actions and effect the necessary improvements. Communication and mutual understanding of the detrimental effects of tardiness on both the individual and the organization are important. In the end, it falls on each of us to take ownership of our actions and strive to be the best we can be by making the changes required to enhance our performance.
