Schools are essential facilities after hazardous/disaster events such as earthquakes and
typhoons for they serve as an evacuation center.
UKDEO ASSESS INFRASTRUCTURES FOR DAMAGES
The Upper Kalinga Maintenance Section deployed its personnel to inspect and assess
the safety of national bridges, government hospitals, public school buildings, and other
public buildings within UKDEA area of jurisdiction on August 2, 2022. The result shows
that there were no damages to national bridges and government hospital. Also, there
were minor cracks on the walls of public school buildings and other public buildings.
Engr. Joel G. Bucao, Chief Maintenance Section, emphasized that the immediate
inspection conducted is to ensure the safety of the motorists and the public. He cited that
buildings particularly school must be thoroughly check since they serve as evacuation
centers after disasters or calamities.
