Elon Musk is a well-known entrepreneur, inventor, and engineer who is widely
recognized as one of the most influential people in the world. He was born on June
28, 1971, in Pretoria, South Africa, to a Canadian mother and a South African father.
From an early age, Musk showed a keen interest in technology and innovation, which
would later become the driving force behind his success.
After completing his schooling in South Africa, Musk moved to the United States to
pursue his dreams. He attended the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned dual
degrees in Physics and Economics. Following his graduation, he founded his first
company, Zip2, which provided online business directories and maps to newspapers.
The company was sold to Compaq for almost $300 million in 1999, making Musk a
millionaire at the age of 28.
With the proceeds from the sale of Zip2, Musk founded X.com, an online payment
company that later became PayPal. PayPal was hugely successful and was eventually
sold to eBay for $1.5 billion in 2002. Musk used the money from the sale to pursue
his next ventures: SpaceX, Tesla, and SolarCity.
