(INTRODUCE OURSELVES TO THEM)
Hello everyone! I'm here to talk to you about Nigeria, a country in West Africa with a rich and
diverse culture. Nigeria is the most populous country in Africa, with over 200 million people. It
has more than 250 ethnic groups and over 500 languages. Nigeria is also home to some of the
world's most famous musicians, writers, artists and athletes.
(INTRODUCE RIVERS STATE)
Rivers State is a wonderful place to visit and learn more about. It has a lot of attractions and
landmarks that you can explore and enjoy. Some of them are the Port Harcourt Zoo, the Isaac
Boro Park, the Port Harcourt Pleasure Park, the Bonny Island Nature Reserve, and the Finima
Beach. Rivers State is also home to some of the best schools and universities in Nigeria, such as
the University of Port Harcourt, the Rivers State University of Science and Technology, and the
Ignatius Ajuru University of Education.
(Food)
Rivers State is a beautiful place in the south-south region of Nigeria, where they have a rich
culture and a unique way of cooking.
One of the most popular food in Rivers State is bole, which is roasted plantain or yam with
roasted fish and a spicy palm oil stew. You can find bole vendors on the roadside, and it is a
delicious and filling snack for lunch or after a busy day. Bole is also healthy because plantain and
yam are rich in carbohydrates and fiber, and fish is a good source of protein and omega-3 fatty
acids.
Another food that is native to Rivers State is onunu, which is made from boiled yam, very ripe
plantain and oil. The yam and plantain are pounded together in a mortar until they form a
smooth paste. Onunu can be eaten with pepper soup, stew or any sauce you like
(Cultural Attire)
(We are a state of different colors we cherish fashion a lot)
One of the most common and popular outfits in Rivers State is the wrapper and blouse. The
wrapper is a long piece of cloth that is wrapped around the waist and tied at the side. The
blouse is a loose-fitting shirt that covers the upper body. The wrapper and blouse can be made
of different fabrics, such as cotton, silk, lace, or brocade. They can also have different patterns
and colors, such as stripes, floral, geometric, or animal prints. The wrapper and blouse are worn
by both men and women, but they can have different styles and accessories depending on the
occasion and preference.
Another common outfit in Rivers State is the boubou. The boubou is a long and wide robe that
covers the whole body. It can be worn by both men and women, but it is more common for men.
The boubou can be made of different fabrics, such as cotton, linen, or damask. It can also have
different colors and decorations, such as embroidery, beads, or sequins. The boubou is usually
worn for formal or religious events, such as weddings, festivals, or prayers.
There are many other types of cultural attire in Rivers State, such as the kaftan, the agbada, the
dashiki, the iro and buba, and the gele. Each one has its own history and meaning behind it. The
cultural attire of Rivers State is a way of expressing one's identity, culture, and heritage. It is
also a way of celebrating the beauty and diversity of Rivers State and Nigeria.
