Your Applications
Elephant Brakes optimally integrated into your technical environment
WATERPROOF AND EFFECTIVE –
BRAKES FOR OFFSHORE USE
Contact with saltwater, floodwaters and storms,
major temperature fluctuations, and outages cause
an extremely heavy strain to the components in the
field of OFF-SHORE. Nickel-plated Rietschoten disc
brakes excel in their utmost reliability and robustness: Saltwater resistant, completely impermeable
(max. IP 67), corrosion-protected, and explosion-proof (Category 2 high safety according to ATEX
Directive 94/9/EC). On oil rigs, examples of brake
use are in winches and as locking mechanisms for
drill pipes.

SOLID SYSTEMS FOR CONVEYOR SYSTEMS
INGENIOUS MODULAR DESIGN – ROBUST BRAKES
They stand like true giants despite the toughest conditions: The
extra large conveyor systems used in the MINING INDUSTRY
extract millions of tons of raw materials or move large volumes
of other materials. Ultra-robust Elephant Brakes handle all of
the work around the clock, decade after decade. Whether at the
surface level or underground, in the roughest of environments,
at extreme temperatures and in adverse weather conditions,
they reliably perform their task; for example, in conveyor belt
systems. Protected against corrosion, explosion-proof, secure,
and—above all—intelligent.
They are robust, durable, and highly compact: Elephant Brakes

Strong, quick response time and compact
Qualities, that distinguish our disc brake systems
Caliper disc brakes were developed for industrial use to meet the demand for space-saving brakes. Due to their compact build, our
units require only a minimum amount of axial space. Disc brakes by Elephant Brakes are strong, highly responsive, and especially
suited for braking in both rotating directions because they do this without any servo assistance.

machines for foil, paper, cable, wire, and metal band or even
strictly for holding applications such as servicing and maintenance work in ventilator construction or shipbuilding, as well
as locking mechanisms in handling systems.

Directly pneumatically applied disc brakes are used in practically every area of mechanical engineering. The actuating
force is created here through compressed air, and the brake is
released by spring force. Its range of application spans from
light uses such as web tension control to highly demanding
12
applications such as holding and service brakes that can have a
braking force up to 7,418 lbf / 33,000 N with just one caliper,
depending on the air pressure. There are almost no limits to
the braking torque that can be generated, which depends on the
brake disc diameter and the number of calipers!
