Describe how the current changes in our global climate will affect or impact
biodiversity.
Climate change is considered as one of the global challenges that are facing
by the society in recent years. Its effects are undeniably visible to the extent that it
adversely affects the different fields of the physical world such as in economics,
industry, society, and especially our biodiversity. Meanwhile, based on my
understanding about biodiversity, it is characterized as the variety of life on Earth. It
includes every living organism in the ecosystems such as animals, plants, trees, and
even microorganisms.
To further elaborate the topic, changes in our global climate will tremendously
affect or impact biodiversity in the way that the increased and decreased in
temperature, declining water supplies, increase in heavy precipitation, rising sea
levels, and shrinking of glaciers can adversely ruins the ecosystem or habitats of some
living organisms. If this occurs, it can lead to the decline of the population of several
marine, aquatic, terrestrial, and aerial species, resulting to their extinction or being on
the list of endangered species. For instance, in some countries, the effects of climate
change are highly evident and therefore, there are reported cases of the decline in
some variety of species. As a result of this, global climate change can also impact our
biodiversity in indirect ways since several animals are somewhat dependent on other
animals in terms of food production and consumption that results to the existence of
food chain and food web, giving emphasis to the concept of domino effect. Indeed,
we cannot deny the fact that changes in global climate provides undesirable
consequences in many ways and it cannot be prevented for the reason that some of
its causes are considered to be natural causes. However, it can be decelerated
through the aid of positive actions and practices of human being.
In conclusion, educating ourselves and other individual on what is climate
change including its negative impact on our biodiversity is extremely necessary in
order for us to be aware on what are the possible situations that might occur and in
order for us to make an action to mitigate the associated risks brought by climate
change by being more conservative with energy usage, by reducing water waste, by
using renewable energies, and by planting more trees in our environment.
