The day that changed my life I used to call myself "the most miserable girl" because I thought I was the only one who was suffering because of life. I did not know that behind every door, there was a story, including happy and sad, until that day came when I opened a door, and there was something behind it that changed my life, and I still remember the events of that day, and the situation. It made me bury my old picture and become more accepting of my life today. It was seven pm when my uncle, who is a member of the volunteer team in our village, came to my house and asked me to go with them to a poor house to give them financial aid and some household items. I agreed without thinking and was very happy with this invitation, because I was hoping to have the opportunity to go through this experience. The next day I woke up early. The clock was five o'clock in the morning. I did not sleep because of my excitement, as if I were on a date with life. The hours went by slowly, I counted the minutes and seconds, and finally, we arrived at the place. The house was very small, and old, as if it had been built a hundred years ago, with cracked walls like the face of an old woman in her 90s, plus its doors were made of iron, and it only had three small windows. Besides, there was no indication that anyone lived in it. My heartbeat so fast when I saw that door, and I couldn't feel my hand as I moved and knocked on it. I was not going to lie to you, I was hoping that no one would open the door, but unfortunately, the door that changed my life was opened. In this house, there was a beautiful girl whose luster and light are overwhelmed by poverty, and she has seven children living there. My heart was saddened to hear her difficult story and her suffering from poverty and how she raised her children alone despite her young age and how her husband left her to struggle with life alone. She cried and said her children sometimes couldn't find anything to stop her hunger, so she would go and ask neighbors if they had food for her children. I met Fatima, the beautiful girl who is not just a girl but an inspiration who walks on Earth. Her beautiful personality captivated me and her answer saddened me when I asked her about her dream job. She said I want to be a doctor so that I can provide my mother with the right treatment for her illness. I took two steps back, then closed my eyes and remembered myself at home when I was angry at my father when he refused to buy the latest cell phones, and I was screaming at my mother when she refused to travel every summer. I used to think that I was poor and miserable only because I couldn't buy a necklace of gold anytime I wanted and forgot what life gave me. I sleep in a modern, air-conditioned room in a large, comfortable bed and I can eat all kinds of food whenever I want. My family stands by me every time I fall and my dad and mom stand together for us. I smiled for a moment, then Fatima tightly embraced and shed my tears, as if my tears had been liberated from life imprisonment. I looked into her charming eyes and promised to be safe and strong and to help her fulfill her dream, and I promised myself to become more responsible and to thank God for what he had given me. In the end, I always said, “How bad is poverty, and how beautiful the poor are. " Frankly, I hope to create an association to adopt these children and adopt their talents.
